Student relations on college campuses are a tradition of all new students entering a first year of an educational institution. Many accounts of Nathan’s interactions with students I would deem subjective and skewed. I feel Nathan’s
interactions with students are skewed because most college freshmen, fresh out of the house, probably would not want to open up to someone much older than themselves. Nathan’s interactions with international students, she found a slight alienation of that demographic of students. The complaints were that American students often show little interest in the international students and they are often left to explore the new country on their own. During Nathan’s initial experience in the freshmen dorm she noticed that friendships are made within the first week of classes, then it is hard to penetrate a new group of friends. Therefore with a possible, language barriers, difference of customs, or just awkwardness of different upbringings, may be the cause for this…

Hi! How have you been? I feel like we have not talked in forever, and I wanted to catch up. I decided to tryout for lacrosse at Mercy and I made it, (Jv of course) but Alexa and Ash tried out too and made JV. Mia also tried out and she made both Jv and Varsity. I was wondering did your daughters decide to try out for lacrosse? Speaking of Mia, we have become really close friends this year which is awesome, and of course I have made a ton of new friends because I am outgoing (like I’ve always been), but I have also stayed very close friends with all of my corpus friends. One thing I thought I would never say has come true….. I miss pre alg!!!!! Algebra is honestly the hardest class ever I can’t win and I also hate my teacher but I just do not understand who is going to ever use “FOIL” and “substitution” which those aren't even hard but I still strongly dislike math, but I'm doing fine in that class.…

When you walk into a high school cafeteria, what do you see? As a new student or incoming freshmen, you see many unfamiliar faces. Once you enter a room of people you are unfamiliar with, you tend to feel uncomfortable or unwelcomed. Personally, I experienced those emotions myself, after moving from town to town. Whenever a see a new student, I know exactly how they feel. Their either nervous, upset, shy, or excited to start a new chapter in their life. My best friend Marie was a new student to Weber the same year I was. We found comfort in know that both of us didn’t know anyone. As we spent our off periods together, Marie informed me about Germany, her home town, and I talked to her about American tabloids, cool areas to visit, different…

I saw groups of young students around my age, busy chatting and mingling around in the hall. I walked to the girls to greet them and introduce myself. They were so friendly and welcomed me to join their group. We started to talk about ourselves, random topics and made jokes. Within that short acquaintance, I slowly felt so comfortable with them and no longer felt awkward at all. All of us came from different countries, ethnicities and some of them are locals too. It was good to know that you are not the only one who is thousand miles from your home.…

Tandon is right in saying that many students are nervous when they first arrive. Yondeen Sherpa, from Kathmandu, says she feels a bit overwhelmed by everything. “For me, and a lot of other people I think, the American way of life is very different than we are used to.” Yondeen isn’t alone in her culture shock. For Andre Melo, an incoming freshman, the food and weather will be hard to get used to. “The weather is more dry here. It’s humid in Brazil, and I’m really concerned about the winter here; I’ve heard it’s very hard.” A student from Singapore, who wished to remain anonymous, is nervous for slightly…
