Effective Leadership Skills As A Medical Administrative Assistant
One of the most effective managerial skills that stuck out to me in chapter one of "Essentials of Contemporary Management" is people skills. As a Medical Administrative Assistant this skill is one of the key components to being successful in this particular career field. There are four main human skills that an Administrative Medical Assistant should possess and they are the ability to understand, lead, alter and control. Out of the four I think that lead is the most effect when it comes to running an office environment and having the concern for others. One day you come to work a little early and one of the other employees are late whom you really need so the office begins to get a little backed up. Any time there’s a pile up patients begin to get angry due to the fact that they were on time. So one angry patient who was ten minutes early becomes angry because her appointment has come and gone and she still haven’t been seen.…

Leadership plays a key role in health care system, this statement is supported by a study conducted in American and European hospitals by Dorgan et al, (as cited in Health Workforce Australia, 2012) that suggested competent clinical leaders had the ability to boost the quality of patient care. Additional confirmation originates from a British study that depicted those hospitals that had qualified superior supervisors as perceived by the work staff had better performance rate and patient satisfaction (CQC, as cited in Health Workforce Australia, 2012).Clinical Leadership defines the role of clinical leaders as decision makers and influencers who promote positive development and innovations in management as well as in practice to enhance the quality of health…

Leadership “is a process where an individual influences a group of people to achieve a common purpose” (Northhouse, 2010). Being a leader is one of the most important skills one is either born with or acquires through mentorship or experience. A transformational leader who acts as a role model can influence patients, staffs, and make them accountable for their own practice, work achievement and staff development (McNaron, 2009). As an inspiring young future DNP leader, my main focus will be patient compliance, satisfaction, and healthcare accessibility. The transformational leadership skills I will need to develop and use are motivation, inspiration, empowerment, and trust. These qualities involves working closely with other healthcare providers…

The first one is communication. Being able to communicate on all levels is essential in Human Resources. This means being able to be understood in not only what you say, but also being able to express yourself and your issues in writing. I feel that communication is a skill that is essential in every job. Communication is one that is fundamental as described; “Human resources communications include guidelines, policies, notices and procedures that help you manage your workforce. Communication between human resources and the employee base is important to sustain employee satisfaction and morale (Mayhew, R. 2016).” The next key skill is that of relating to others. It is not enough just to get along with others, but you need to be able to understand the needs of other people as well. You need to be able to show compassion, kindness, and empathy. The main goal is to assist them in their need as it relates to the organization. You will not be able to do this if you cannot understand what they are trying to…
