P1:
This assignment will discuss the role of effective communication as well as interpersonal interaction within health and social care. This assignment will look at the different forms of communication and interpersonal interaction and examples will be given in a health and social care setting to support this.
The communication in a health and care workplaces is there for a worker and a service user to be able to understand each other as well as the worker to obtain and provide necessary information and strengthen the relationship. They also need to communicate well with service users families. Interpersonal interaction encompasses all types of contact between people. For example it could be as brief as a nurse smiling at a service user when finishing there shift and not seeing the service user till the next day. There is a variety ways of communicating, which also includes non-verbal communication which has a wider range of options to choose from such as; sign language, braille, texting, social network websites, body language, gestures and facial expressions, this is a way of contact to share information within two or more people. For example a one to one conversation between a nurse and a service user in an elderly care home, The nurse would make sure he or she used the correct voice tone to show she was comforting and caring towards the service user, making eye contact and the correct body language would show a sign of respect, the correct facial expressions, for example a friendly smile will make the service user feel more relaxed, also the nurse may use touch for reassurance, to
