Assignment 3

May 22, 2011

1. Some games of strategy are cooperative. One example is deciding which side of the road to drive on. It doesn’t matter which side it is as long as everyone chooses the same side. Otherwise, everyone may get hurt. Driver 2 Left Right
Driver 1 Left 0, 0 -1000 -1000

Right -1000, -1000 0, 0

a. Does either player have a dominant strategy? Explain.

In my view there is no dominant strategy for either driver 1 or 2. There is no pure strategy instead there seems to be a mixed strategy for both drivers. If driver 1 chooses to go left, and if driver 2 also chooses left less chance for a collision, and the same is true with both drivers going to the right. On other hand if the drivers choose

b. Is there Nash equilibrium in this game? Explain

There are two Nash Equilibrium which are (Left, Left) and (Right, Right). If driver 1 is going left then driver 2 can choose left and less chances for an accident so to speak. The reverse is true that if driver 1 goes right driver 2 should also choose right.

c. Why this game is called a cooperative game?

In this situation a driver could get hurt if either driver 1or driver 2 other chooses opposite sides both drivers should choose a direction that is the same either left or right. If one driver chooses left then other may to choose left as well and if one driver chooses goes right then other driver may also choose right as well.

It can be looked at as a cooperative game because neither of the drivers would be hurt and both would likely choose to go either left or right.

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the reasons why I, as a hired management consultant, would suggest a fictitious company either shut down operations or continue them based on its operational health. In order to do this I must first describe, in brief, the basic details of the company I have created to provide some tangibility to this assignment. Then I will assess the current environmental scan factors relevant to the decision making process, focusing on those which have the greatest impact on both the overall plant operations and the managerial decision of whether or not to discontinue operations. After which I will evaluate the company’s financial performance using data provided for the assignment related to the fictitious scenario. In doing this I will need to consider the key drivers of said performance including the company’s profit or loss in both the short term and long term, discussing how each of these factors influence the managerial decisions. Next I will recommend how the company might improve its profits in order to deliver more stakeholder value and provide a basic plan of how to best implement the recommendation. Finally I will assess those circumstances under which the company should discontinue operations as well as how management should react when confronted with those circumstances.…

An individual may arrive at an intersection where two lanes of traffic flow together. Without affecting any other drivers in his or her proximity, the individual allows the driver from the incoming flow of traffic to slip in front of them. This type of driving behavior may be more empathic without the praise of others. When a driver attempts to let someone in traffic at an inappropriate time, it interferes with the flow of traffic. This type of driving behavior may stem more from gaining social approval from others even though it is potentially irritating for the surrounding population.…
