Don’t Drink and Drive Driving under the influence of alcohol has affected and devastated countless lives.
Driving under the influence is one of the most dangerous situations you can put yourself or someone else into. The evidence against driving while intoxicated is massive and it has left a long trail of broken dreams and lives. If you drink and drive, not only do you possibly put yourself at risk, but your passengers and pedestrians, and other people on the roads. According to the most recent statistics by the National Commission Against Drunk Driving is that 17, 000
Americans die each year in alcohol related traffic crashes and 600,000 Americans are injured.
That’s an average of one death every thirty minutes. Just think about that. Every thirty minutes …show more content…
Alcohol tends to lower your blood sugar level, so it could be dangerous if you have some sort of blood sugar issue like diabetes. Also, the alcohol will react faster and stronger on an empty stomach. There are also certain medications that can make you react badly to alcohol. Most people don’t realize that these things can make them a hazard on the road. I really liked what one woman said, “Don’t drink and drive because you don’t want to have to live with killing someone.” As the women said, you should do whatever you can to keep people from driving drunk whether you have to hide the keys or drive them home yourself, because you never know who’s life you’re going to save and who it will affect.
We all have heard or read about the dangers of drinking and driving and what it can do to a person, right? Of course. With each passing year, people get more informed about the dangers of driving while intoxicated. Why is it, then, people still make that risky decision to get behind the wheel after having a “few” drinks? And why do teens, and children not old enough to drive, still ride passenger with a drunk driver?

population, but 28% of all alcohol related mishaps? That is an average of eight teens dying per day because of a driver that is influenced under alcohol. As you may know, teens are not the only ones that are losing their lives. One person dies every 48 minutes due to drunk driving .
With all these bad and discouraging news, there comes good and commendable news.
Recent studies show that in the course of 19912011 the rate of people in the U.S. drinking and driving has dropped 49% and 63% for those who are under twenty one. This decline is assisted by educating the youth and the upcoming teen drivers. Getting the facts before hand helps in making the right choices in their future. Other benefactors of the decrease are the leadership groups and organizations. These groups include MADD (Mothers Against Drinking and
Driving) and SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions.)
The organization MADD was made possible by the thousands of mothers who have lost their sons and daughters due to drunk driving. They want to try and warn others that being killed by a drunk driver is not isn 't an impossibility or “something that could never happen to
