Do you think that smoking should be banned in public places?
Do you think that smoking should be banned in public places? I believe that smoking should not be allowed in public places. First of all, smoking is bad for our health. Banding smoking from public places should be enforced throughout the whole United States. Here are three reasons why smoking should be banned. Cigarette smoke is very harmful to non-smokers. Smoking in front of young people is a bad influence on them. Office buildings and homes have caught on fire from someone smoking inside. Smoking can cost you problem in the future; you would probably end up getting cancer.
Studies have shown that this damages nonsmoker’s health against their will and could cause them to get lung cancer. Second hand smoke contains hundreds of toxic chemicals including arsenic ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, formaldehyde, benzene, and vinyl chloride. It is known to cause cancer, coronary heart disease, and respiratory problems. There is no risk- free level of exposure to secondhand smoke. Non-smokers should not be subjected to this disgusting habit. Wanting to ban smoking in public places isn’t about taking away a smoker’s rights. You will still have the right to smoke in your own space.

But if you are not in your own space then you should take into consideration the others around you. The places that normally allow smoking might lose a bit of money, but it will also help with the health problems that occur. Most people believe that someone who is not in the smoking area of the public place will not be affected by the smoke, but smoke is able to spread in a room and affect the people around. Smoking causes a lot of problems not only to the smoker but to the people that are around them. I personally do not like going to restaurants where they allow smoking because it not only ruins my lunch or dinner, it ruins the whole point of going to eat at a nice restaurant. Imagine trying to eat and all you take in is smoke because 10 ft. away from your table they have the smoking area.

Imagine going to a public place with your children and you get surrounded by smokers. Your kids would suffer the inhalation of the smoke and not to say if they have asthma or any type of lung problems. Then it will only make it worse if they are exposed to these public places. People should just take into consideration that they are not the only living people on this earth and should think of others. These can also affect the young kids that see people smoking and get influenced by them and can become smoker’s themselves. Maybe if they band smoking from public places people will stop smoking or minimize the use of lighting up a cigarette in public. If they would do these it would not only help them in their health but financially because cigarettes are kind of pricy.

It has been know that cigarettes have been the cause of fires in homes and buildings. Not too long ago, an apartment complex caught on fire because a lady fell asleep with a cigarette in her hand. She was lucky that no one got hurt. But things like these should never be underestimated. No one got hurt in this accident but we never know how big of a fire it could have been and imagine not being able to get out of the building. It’s a terrifying image that I hope no one would have to go through it because of a cigarette. These are my reasons why I think smoking should be banned from public places.

America is recognized for its laws regarding freedom. By allowing smoking in public places, we are taking away the freedom of health from nonsmokers. Through banning areas where smoking is permitted, we limit freedoms of the smoker, but do not eliminate the freedom entirely. The ban would be seen more as a restriction on where these freedoms can be exercised to ensure well being for all people, smokers and nonsmokers. These limitations are for the good of the American people as a whole, which makes the ban an appropriate course of action.…

What about the non-smoker who always has to respectfully get up and move tables every times someone lights up, or the couple that covers their nose while walking down the street to avoid the smoke traveling in front of them, And let’s not forget the children who are easily sickened and is forced to play in the sand while someone’s father is having a quick smoke on the bench at the park. Smoking should definitely be banned on the non smoker behalf. It is worse for those that work in a bar, café or a restaurant. They have no way of escaping that dirty stale cigarette smell, and it’s not…

Smoking cigarettes can cause lung problems. Both first-hand and second-hand smokers are affected by cigarette smoke. Scientific findings and researches show that the chemicals in cigarettes, apart from the smoke, can lead to health problems such as lung cancer. Smoking cigarettes should be banned in public places. In public places, more people, both young and old, can be exposed to the smoke from cigarettes. My position differs from those who might say that smoking altogether should not be banned. My position is that smoking in public places should be banned. It does not include smoking in private places like homes. Smoking in public places should be banned because it poses health risks to individuals who are non-smokers and who do not want to inhale the fumes from cigarettes. The risks are double to those who already have lung ailments.…

Smoking should be illegal. Primarily the smoker’s lungs are permanently damaged. Also second hand smoke is by far the worst type of inhalation of smoke. Many say that smoking is a freedom. But should the government allow people to kill each other in order to be “free”. Our health should not be in danger if we want to be free. Also many teenagers who try cigarettes have a higher rate of violent offenses and, are more likely to be addicted to this horrendous drug. Therefore cigarettes should be prohibited from production.…

While some experts may argue that “such a high percentage of Americans (that number is adults) doing something, it would be a major imposition to suddenly stop the activity.” (10 Reasons). This is not enough to warrant not banning smoking because plenty of adults have quit smoking. Experts also argue that Children and adults are far more at risk from constant exposure to smoking in private places than they are from occasional dalliance with smoking in public places”(Shouldn't Ban). This does not matter because people are still at risk.…

Tobacco smoke can be offensive to a majority of restaurant customers; does that mean smoking should be outlawed in all eating establishments? The principle of liberty would say the smoker has the right to smoke but conversely the non smoker customer has the right to dine and not be overwhelmed by tobacco smoke. Instead of outlawing smoking in all restaurants allow the free market to settle the debate. The spots bar owner who desires to attract a large number of customers can offer a nonsmoking dining area and another section for smokers. The second dining area room would be separated and could include a strong ventilation system pulling the tobacco smoke out. Next door the owner of another sports bar can choose to make it a nonsmoking establishment. Each business owner accepts the effects of their choice realizing either way some potential customers won’t feel welcomed.…

Restaurant goers make decisions that effect their overall satisfaction in an establishment every time they go out. They have to decide if they want their steak cooked medium-well or rare, if they want a Budweiser or a Bud-light, and if they want to start a tab or pay in cash. So what do all these decisions have in common? They have the freedom to choose what they want. So, why is it that we don't have a choice when the decision is whether or not we can smoke in public? You may think this seems like a complaint on the behalf of customers who smokes. But, in fact, it is the complaint of a non-smoker. Non-smokers have no choice in whether they are surrounded by people who smoke or not when they are at a bar or restaurant. Other customers, who…

The more secondhand smoke that a person is exposed to the level of harmful chemicals in their body is also very high. Second hand smoke is a very big problem recently. Smoking should be banned in all public places to protect people from second-hand smoke and stop promoting the visual to minors. The cigarette is a small but deadly habit enjoyed by 45.3 million Americans. Smoking is illegal inside most public restaurants and buildings as well as on school property. But, why should cigarette smoking be banned in all public spaces, including outside public establishments? The most obvious reason is second-hand smoke and the damage it causes to others who don 't want to be exposed to cigarette smoke. A ban on all public smoking would improve the air quality in each town, spare people from smoke exposure, decrease the overall amount of smoking, and make it less visible to children and teens as an accepted norm. The negative effects of second-hand smoke are scientifically documented and provide a valid reason for banning all public smoking.…
