Do you think all high school students should be required to wear a uniform to school?
Do you think all high school students should be required to wear a uniform to school? Should high school students be required to wear uniforms? Parents and school administrators have been in a controversy for a while. I believe uniforms shouldn't be allowed because uniforms could tend to become expensive, takes away the uniqueness of students; also they are so uncomfortable. First of all uniforms can be more expensive than the average clothes a student’s wears. On a recent study parents pay three hundred dollars more or uniforms than they usually would spend on average clothing. In these economic times the last thing a parent should be worrying about is the uniform payment of their children. At a school with uniforms some require a week supply of dress pants and a formal shirt, not to mention the casual blazer or school jacket. All this tends to add up to a lot of money. So end the end uniforms tend to be too expensive. Second of all uniforms take away the creativity of students. Students have so many rules in school about that they tend to express themselves with their clothes. When I was in school that’s how I expressed how I felt, through clothes. In my opinion students shouldn’t wear uniforms, they make everybody look the same and dull. Students like to be unique and stick out from the rest of the student body especially girls. Complementing each other on how you’re dressed is a big confident booster for students. So in the end uniforms take away the uniqueness of students and creativity. Finally uniforms are so uncomfortable. Students shouldn’t be uncomfortable when put through the stresses of school. Yes uniforms are a nice way to express the school but should being uncomfortable be the consequence a certain look? I would rather wear my regular clothes and be comfortable then wear a school uniform and be uncomfortable. In a recent study 85% of students are uncomfortable when wearing their uniforms. Would you rather be comfortable or

Many Americans are oblivious to the controversy of school uniforms but it is, nonetheless, a highly debated issue among students and families. Private schools often enforce uniforms, which are standardized to indigo or khaki pants and collared shirts limited to the school colors. Many of the public schools in the United States that do not have a uniform policy, administer a dress code which the students often neglect and teachers fail to implement. Those in opposition to school uniforms argue that they remove individuality and violate the right of self-expression. However, schools should approbate uniforms as they offer many benefits for students and families.…

Throughout the years, there has been much debate with schools across the country on whether or not students should be allowed to wear uniforms. Through past experience with this argument, it’s safe to say that wearing a uniform is not a bad thing at all. Why? For one, uniforms stop other students from being judged on how they look, two, they save families money and students will not pressure their parents into buying clothes some families can’t afford, and lastly uniforms increase safety and security. So I do strongly agree that students should be able to wear uniforms.…

Public schools should require students to wear uniforms. I say this because I've attended a public school where we had to wear uniforms. The difference between the students wearing casual clothes and uniforms is noticable. Many students attend public schools, and it would be best if uniforms were required, due to diversity, to help identify students, and to keep organization.…

As the first amendment says, everyone has the right to express themselves freely which you cannot do if you are forced to wear a school uniform. (procon.org) Clothing choices are a crucial part of self expression and taking the choice away from someone can result in stifling students creativity. Overall, when kids do not have the choice on what to wear they are unable to express their individuality. Another reason school uniforms should not be required is that they do not have any positive effect on attendance, academics, preparedness, or exam results.…

There have been many debates about whether students across Ontario should be wearing a school uniform among multiple groups of people for years. Despite the opposing side, I believe school uniforms should be mandatory at all high schools in Ontario for a few reasons. Uniforms allow for quick preparation times in mornings. There would be no judgments among students based on clothing, and uniforms introduced in schools would prepare students for the uniformity of adult life.…

Uniforms indeed cut down cost for families. Instead of parents having to go out and buy $50.00 pair of jeans and yes that is for one pair. Most stores have bundle sales on school uniforms. What you paid for one pair of jeans can buy you 2 uniform bottoms and 2 uniform tops and some places 3 or 4. Only expensive thing you worry about is shoes. Uniforms are much less expensive than traditional clothing worn by teens. Some schools provide programs where kids can receive the uniforms at little or no cost. I remember my daughter went on a filed a trip when she got home from the field trip she had a be brown paper bag in the bag was 2 uniform pants 2 shirts, a sweater, socks, a pack of underwear and many more things that were given to her in this program that was offered in her school. Even though the argument on whether or not school uniforms takes away the student's right to self-expression will never end. Having school uniforms for the students to wear will eliminate bullies who pick on other students based on their clothing. Uniforms will eliminate the separation of social classes when that is mainly determined by what clothing a person wears. Last but not least, schools that require the students to wear school uniforms makes a formal look on the school. Uniforms may seem boring, but if they are able to help improve learning for students, they are a very reasonable…

Not very many schools around the United States make their students wear uniforms. According to the U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics, during the 2013-14 school year only fifteen percent of schools required their students to wear uniforms. Some people believe that the use of uniforms will help decrease the amount of bullying and crime in schools. They also believe that by wearing uniforms, students will focus more on their school work instead of their clothes. On the other hand, I believe that the use of school uniforms limits a student's freedom to express themselves. Also, I believe school uniforms don’t help the amount of bullying, it could even make it worse if someone can’t afford a uniform. Lastly,…

Why would schools want to waste a lot of money for something that they do not need? They would not. They could spend the money on more useful things, not something that schools do not need. The schools could spend the money on new equipment and more things that they actually need. Also kids would rather have new math, science, history books, and more for their school, then some uniforms they do not need. The new stuff would actually make the kids happy that their school has some new equipment, and they would want to be eager to learn and pay attention more, so they could use the new things. So schools should not spend any money on school uniforms.…
