Divorce-Personal Narrative
This had been an ongoing issue for almost as long as I was in school. My parents couldn’t go a week without some kind of event that brought the two further apart. Sometimes I would be oblivious to it, and on other occasions, I would have to constantly be thinking of which parent I’d be more suited to live with. Throughout these years, it became obvious that a divorce was inevitable. This idea became a reality when I was almost 13, going into my freshman year of highschool. The time where I was too naive to figure out whether their marriage was bound to be repaired or if it was destined to be a failure like many other couples have.succumbed to in the past. I had witnessed the things that had been driving them apart for many years. My …show more content…
I had nothing to do, as I had not brought my phone with me. There was a television on a stand, playing the same loop of Spongebob Squarepants episodes. I quite well remember.one of them being about the main character having a black suit that resembled Batman as close as possible on a sponge. This suit let the user fly. I was getting tired from everything that day, so I had laid down on the row of chairs they had in the lobby. My brother and I were alone in this room at this point, so I presume I was thinking it holds no significance if I lie down and rest. After about two hours, my father had finished everything he had to do and said we were ready to leave. My brother and I were relieved to go home and relax. On the car ride home, my father asked questions about what they talked to us about, so my brother once again spoke up and told him the topics of discussion. My father was not surprised, as this is what he expected them to ask about. This marks the end of the trip to my courthouse, and with it, the expectations I had for the courthouse vanished. I was not frightened by the courthouse, but rather curious as to what was going on in my life

The separation moved at an almost mockingly lackadaisical pace. Months tediously dragged on, and even after the legal separation my life was never as it once was. I started to appreciate the people who were present in my life and how precious family stability is. The idea of losing my mother or father to divorce made me realize that this could have easily been a loss due to an illness. I grew to appreciate that I am lucky to have them in my life period. It was at this time that I seriously thought about working in health care; a field that aims to prolong human lives. This event of my childhood that some might even call traumatic, bettered me, and brought me into the adult world.…
