The globalization of society has become a challenge to physical therapy educators to equip students for rendering culturally competent care. Providers who lack expertise for working in cross-cultural situations may experience difficulty conversing effectively with either patients or family members, which may lead to an inadequate management of the diseases or conditions characteristic of a particular population. To resolve these problems various organizations such as APTA, NIH have come up different strategies. For instance, increasing diversity within the physical therapy profession through minority recruitment and retention strategies is a goal of APTA.
