Distribution of Wealth in America
Topic Proposals
Social Problems: Spring 2014

Due Date: See course schedule

Fill out the following form (see page 2) completely and turn in on or before the due date. Be as clear as possible: the primary purpose of this exercise is to make sure that you have a workable topic; I will not approve topics that I think are too broad, too narrow, are not sociological in focus, don’t address the assignment, etc. In other words, I’m trying to help you succeed on this project. In order to help you succeed, I need to know what you’re thinking 
You may email this form.
I will keep this sheet, and will email you with comments and suggestions. If I approve your topic, the email will say “topic approved” (you should still read the email because I may have comments even with approval). If your email does not contain the words “topic approved,” then you should re-think your idea, using my comments, and resubmit (via email is fine unless you completely change topics).
It would be best if you do this as soon as possible – the sooner you get this approved, the more time you have to write. If you wait until the due date, for example, and then need to work on your topic, and don’t get back to me quickly, you might end up not having much time to write at all.
So, to be clear:
1. Research projects will not be accepted unless topics have been approved.
2. Your topic is not approved unless you get an email stating clearly that it has been approved.
3. If you don’t receive an email from me a few days after you turn your topic in, you should assume that something has gone wrong and you should resubmit immediately. Don’t wait if you don’t hear from me.
If, for some reason, your topic is approved but you decide you don’t want to write a paper on that topic after all, you may change topics. HOWEVER, you *must* notify me as soon as possible. Depending on the magnitude of the change, I may ask you to complete a new form.
Again – this requirement is meant to help you

A redistribution of wealth would automatically cause laziness. The ideology of redistribution is against America's economic system. It will take away from society's growth opportunities like when the rich cannot start a new business or hire new employees, and basically hurting the economy because of this. When you tax income you get less of it. People will have less money to invest, save, and use. When you take away Neil’s money to pay Sam, Neil will either move away or quit working because he has zero incentive to earn money, and won't get a dime, and since Neil is not working Sam will have no money. Redistribution ruins productive habits and investments, which leads to no economic growth. The people who depend on the redistribution of wealth…

I ran into trouble the first week; I was unable to find hardly any information on reducing chlamydia in the elderly and no research on the matter. So I requested to change my topic to reducing chlamydia in teenagers. I should have asked for the change earlier, but I kept trying to find information and research on reducing chlamydia in the elderly throughout the first week. This has puts me behind on meeting my timeline for week one, two and three. I did not meet my first week timeline of choosing my topic for my project until the first day of the second week. The second week I completed my purpose statement, picot question and did some research to check out what type of literature is out there on decreasing chlamydia in teenagers, I used the EBSCO library system and scholarly google to look up information on my project. I did not meet my second week time line, because I did not complete my introduction and background for my research…

Tourism is one of the world’s fastest growing industries and is major source of income for many countries. Being a people oriented industry, tourism also provides many jobs which have helped revitalize local economies. However, like other forms of development, tourism can also cause its share of problems such as social dislocation, loss of cultural heritage, economic dependence and ecological degradation. Learning about the impacts of tourism has led to many people to seek more responsible holidays. McCool and Moisey (2001) reinforce this by saying “to achieve sustainable development, communities must find a delicate balance between conflicting economic environmental, and social equity objectives.…
