Disadvantages Of Year Round School
Have you ever thought about enrolling in a year- round school? Year-round schools might be good or bad depending on how much help you will need. The three big things I’m going to write about in this paper is how the school operates. The benefits about going to a year-round school and the negatives about attending a year-round school.
First off, you will need to learn how the daily and weekly schedules are set up. For example, some of the most popular schedules are 45-15 days. Which means students will attend school for 45 days and then get 15 days off. Next, other schools schedules can vary slightly in the number of days attending and days off from school. For example, some schools will do 60-20 or 90-30 days. It means that that kids will go to school for 60 days and get 20 days off or go to school for 90 days and get 30 days off. Lastly, more than 3 million students go to year -round school. The author, Grace Chen, from the passage Year Round vs. Traditional schedules in Public Schools states, “That nearly 3 million K-12 students in the U.S. attend a year-round school.” Which means that more students prefer to go to a year-round school than a traditional school. He is saying that many families plan vacations over the summer. That means that the families would have to skip some days of school for their vacation. Next, some schools don’t have air conditioning. It was written in the passage, many schools don’t have air conditioning in their room, therefore, during the summer the kids could get hot and it’s hard to concentrate causing grades to suffer. Finally, during the mini breaks students can forget what they learn. It says in the text, students are away from school long enough to partially forget what they have learned in the past. During the breaks students don’t care about school anymore and when they go back they may have forgotten what they have already
