Gant, who has been a member of the psychology department for 17 years, began studying sleep as a graduate student. Through her studies, she found a correlation between lack of sleep and accidents.
“Going without enough sleep is as much of a public and personal safety hazard as going to work drunk,” said Gant. “It can make people clumsy, stupid, unhappy.”
