It was nearly sunset and I was relaxing along the soothing beach in Capitola, California. My brother and sister were assembling sand and shells to make a colossal sand city while my parents were in two chairs chatting. As I was ambling down the oceanfront my feet would feel the chilly waves and I could sense the gentle wind blowing my way. I was reminiscing about the exciting activities previously that day, including swimming through the waves, body surfing, and passing around a volleyball with my brother.…
I ran outside to find one of the most beautiful sights I had ever seen. The long stretch of sand was pure white and sparkled in the sun as if it had glitter mixed in with it. It almost looked like snow. The sand was hot on my feet as I walked down the beach to the water. I could hear it squeak a little with every foot step. As I…
Would you eat a bowl full of rat poison and call it cereal? I really don’t think you would. What about giving your child de-icing chemicals for breakfast? I think you would have to be insane in order to do that as well. I ask these questions because foods that claim to be “healthy” may contain harmful chemicals, many of which the average person has no idea what they really are.…
Walking around the beach made me feel more comfortable than ever. As I stroll along, I could feel the soft smooth sand beneath my feet. The sand looked clean like sugar spread out for miles, as it squished between our toes and made my calves ache with every step. The sound of the ocean comforted me, the rhythmic pounding of the waves represses all my worries. I kicked the water and it responded with a swoosh of its waves. That brought back memories, when I used to come here with my friends and used to play around in the water. I couldn’t help but faint a smile. I found it some what amusing to see the sand castles that still remained, the ones we built long ago, the lucky few that made it through reckless little boys play. It was dark outside and stars floated in the distance, but the moon seemed so close, I could grab it and take it in my pocket to keep for myself, so close that I could see it's bright shadow shimmering on the rolling water. Ghost crabs darted past my feet like thieves in the night, going in one hole and out another. One of them climbed to my feet, its legs harmlessly piercing through my skin. I shook it off and it quickly escaped to the nearest hole it could find.…
I saw the blur of black before I heard the screech of my tires on the scorching summer concrete. The crunching sound of metal on metal rang through my ears. I felt the frigid cold of my dairy treat hit my bare legs. My body jerked as the car swerved towards the highway. 1 hour earlier, 9:00 pm on a mundane Friday night, I was lounging around with my closest friend when an idea popped into my mind. “We should go get Dairy Queen!” I suggested to Gracie, my weary friend next to me. She gave me a cheshire smile and we were off. Little did we know, things were about to head downhill. Literally.…
Meal Paragraph To be honest the movie didn't show much optimistic, the kids at the the end of the movie were talking about how they would like peace but they didn't really believe peace would happen. The kids hated each other, even though they didn't meet each other they still hated each just because of what people told them about what happened in the past. At the end of the movie the two brothers and the other kids meet and at first they weren't sure about the person. But when they started talking more they started to realize that the stories they heard make it sound worse than it really is. I believe the only thing stopping the people from having peace is the stories these kids here to make them think that the Jewish people took their land,…
North of Alaska, ripples scattered over the water as the small 'u' shaped trawler glided through the shivering water. As Summer swept through, the mountains with the remains of snow enclosed the lake, distant from the open sea. A small gulley was the only way to access the unknown feverish water. A thin layer of ice sat clumsily on the cool liquid. As the humble boat pierced through the slender layer of ice, it parted with ease leaving a slushy mix on the surface. Calmly, the middle aged man walked to the bow lowering the now ancient anchor. As ancient as the anchor so was the boat. White paint peeled from the side and hull, the raw timber now exposed. As the man walked across the decaying boards they screamed in protest. The man, Tim Kolveski,…
I could see the intricate designs of grapevines that had been masterfully carved into the light oak posts that held the entryway above my head. Through a miniature window on the far side of the room, I could get a slight glance of the steaming pasta noodles that had been drenched in luscious red spaghetti sauce, before the waitress guided us to our seats. I could feel anticipation building up as the waitress guided us to one of the most well placed tables in the whole restaurant. The light brown, cloth drapes that rested against the smooth brick wall of the restaurant grazed my arm as I passed under one of the exits outside. As soon as the fresh air whipped my face, the noticeable scent of fresh chocolate mousse cake assaulted my nose. I could feel the soft, plush cushioning that rested underneath my backside as I sat down to great relief. My eyes scanned my surroundings, taking in all the sights and smells that I could contain within myself without being overwhelmed. Of all the places to be right then, Charleston was the one. I had experienced the smell of chocolate, the taste of lasagna, the sound of the ocean, the sight of warm, crisp sand, and the feeling of being happy and glad for what I…
Across from me was a handsome, dark haired man, broad-shouldered holding a Les Paul classic custom guitar playing melodious songs while I lay on a nice big red beach chair. In my hand was a big glass of iced tea shimmering in the bright sun as I took a sip it cooled the inside of my throat causing me to keep my cool temperature in the hot summer. It was the perfect day to be out, with the sun casting just the right amount of shine to give me that perfect sun-kissed tan. I was lying on a beautiful red chair with my legs sprung up in a gorgeous white cotton maxi dress. As, I got up and started to walk towards the ocean I could hear the waves up ahead. I took my shoes off and set foot on the hot, white sand. I could feel the sand going through in between my toes from every step I took. As I stroll along the edge of the beach I feel free of worries and stress, I am just enjoying the holidays, no school, or work just free time. In the middle of the ocean were many surfers in yellow shorts riding in the various color surfboards. They were going so fast doing so many tricks…
We walked through the city of Baltimore to get to the stadium. It was so crowded, you could barely breathe with all the people and food vendors around. I could smell a mixture of so many things. The first thing was the people, some there smelled like they had just taken a shower but others smelled like a dead skunk. You just couldn’t stand the smell you had to walk away from that person as fast as possible. The other smells I could smell was the food from the vendors. The one I liked the most was the smoked sausage and pulled pork vendor. I was in heaven when we stopped there. It’s every man’s dream to see sausage sandwiches in front of him along with some freshly pulled pork with sweet, tangy barbeque sauce. I had ordered the pulled pork. It wasn’t too cold but wasn’t too hot, it was just right. The juice rolled off of the sandwich onto the napkin every time I had taken a bite. The tanginess was just sensational it was perfect in every which way. I had also picked up, a nice cold lemonade on this hot day. When the lemonade touched my lips they shriveled up from all of the lemon that was in it. It was a perfect mixture of lemons and sugar water it was just fabulous. The icy coldness of the lemonade was wonderful because it was steaming outside.…
Today I was filled to the top with euphoria because mother promised me she would take m to London for my birthday. I woke up abnormally early and washed my face with cold water and put on my favourite polka-dotted dress. I fixed my bed sheets and sprayed a small amount of perfume onto my clothes. I glanced at my pocket watch and found that it was already five o’clock; it would take two hours to get there. I raced down the stairs and shoved a few spoons of rice into my mouth and sprinted back upstairs to awake my sleeping mother.…
6. The sun beat down on my tan skin, as I laid on the white sandy beach in contentment. The clear waves rushed up the shore and made a quite whoosh sound, before receding and continuing in that pattern. The lovely melody of Ed Sheeran’s voice played lightly in the background. People were sparsely scattered along the beach, being only as it is a private beach for residents. It was mid July, so the sun was a little stronger calling for extra sunscreen, filling my nose with its pungent scent. This was only a dream for some some, but my…
My mind was overwhelmed by the drastic change in surroundings I was experiencing. My delicate lips were being run-down by the dry and overwhelming heat of California. The sun was also constantly beating against my skin which gave it an amazing tan. Even though I was used to heat, I was not accustomed to such dry conditions that California had set for me. Yet the view that my eyes glazed upon was something I have never witnessed before. The clashing of the midnight blue waves against the grainy sand and the velvet sun…
As I waltzed on the beach, squishing down the hot buttery-yellow sand that gave off the hot sensation of a burning grill sizzling my feet, I was immediately taken by the scent of freshly sliced fruits and freshly picked flowers. As you move along, brightly colored fruit stalls filled the sidewalks from which fresh fruit is cut. From a fruit stand, the scent travelled all across the beach with the help of the cool breeze which allowed the scent to fill the air. With my eyes closed, I breathed in the ocean bliss that paraded the beach. As I turn towards the sea, I was amazed. It was a deep blue in some areas but in others a glistening turquoise green. As I made my way towards the water as it laps over each time it reaches to the shore, overhead I heard the frantic screech of seagulls like a sharp knife dragged along a glass. As you dive into the deep blue ocean you can feel and taste the chilly, cool and refreshing water surrounding your body as chills ran down my back. Further from the beach there was a volcano that looked like a giant firework to…
It was a hot summer day in the middle of July around one o’clock in the afternoon when I finally decided to venture out of the salty sea that has had a hold on me and my board since six o’clock this morning. I step out of the sea and onto the sand of Honolua Bay, one of the top surfing spots in Hawaii. The sand was warm and with each step absorbed my sea wrinkled toes while the breeze made its way through my blonde tangled hair. I set my board down and pulled on my jean shorts over my bikini and grabbed my bag. As I was making my way over to my lonely bicycle, a beat up car caught my eye. This car was settled under a palm tree tucked away from the afternoons blistering sun. It was an old 1960 VW bug with worn out mustard yellow paint. For a car of its age it was in pretty good shape except for the smallest ding in the driver’s side door. I walked all around the car to further examine the uniqueness of it and stopped when I reached the rear right side bumper. I found a bumper sticker that looked as if it was only a year old with a very eye grabbing saying. “Surfing is very much like making love. It always feels good, no matter how many times you’ve done it.” I was curious about whose car this may be and decided to investigate. I put my board down on the pavement warmed with the sun’s rays and made my way over to the driver side door. I was cautious when I began to open the door and looked around casually to see if anyone was coming. When I found no one in sight I gently opened the door as if it were going to break the second I touched it because of its age. To my surprise the car was kept very clean, it had the smell of coconut sex wax and salt water. The seats were white soft leather and had a plastic pink and orange lei hanging from the rear view mirror that had collected dust from previous years of being untouched. I was hesitant but eventually decided to open the glove box.…
