Descriptive Essay
My name is Kamilu. It is the only name I’ve ever heard and now what I call myself. I have grown up in a homeless shelter, in the beautiful lands of India. As a child this place never scared me even when I was alone at night with no mother to give me comfort. These old brick walls are my home. It is filled with the only people I’ve known my entire life. The superannuated streets are enclosed by the very building which the emperors lived. The walls are rich as the white pearl of gold. It has been carved a masterpiece and the only beautiful castle in all the lands. “I will live like that someday” I tell myself. I am now bordered by the thick green forest which endangered animals inhabit and many forbidden herbs. This is where I do my work of witch crafting. The lovely black striped orange tigers are also my friends. My home is surrounded by the poor streets of India where I’ve known not to make myself bored. This market is where I practice my magic. It is filled with many persuading people. They create lies of every color. The beautifully dressed women are my masterpiece. I have been paid by every scoundrel to make something of them. Ruefully it is the only money I can make. In my youthful years I became pregnant with a beautiful baby boy and had no choice but to give him away. He is better off without me since I have no home to give him. I can only offer my astounding beauty. I have long black hair and polished brown skin only to be covered by the traditional robes we wear in India. As time grew older, so have I and may no longer work as well as I’m used to. I have suffered as well as the others who have no families to feed them. The lands of India have gone through a scarce of food. My customers don’t come as they used to. I’ve obtain one last plan. The pain I’ve been suffering all these years will come to an end. I have fooled you. I live in a kingdom where the people are vulnerable. It is not my fault for them to be my prey. My time will soon end and

What’s better to chill out a hot summer’s day than something sweet and cool? No, I am not talking about a Popsicle. I am not talking about an ice cream cone, either. I am not even talking about iced tea or lemonade. It is something better than all of those, and it doesn’t even have all the sneaky calories of those other tasty treats! The answer to the question is simple. Have you guessed it? It is a cherry.…

This time he told me to put the bones of the goby into four jars and lay them under my bed. I did as he told and waited the next day to see what would happen. Later that day, King Gonang, the ruler of the Tajmasago castle, proclaimed he would throw a festival. Stepmother Beatrice and Cresealia went without me to the festival. I got chosen the job to sort a basket of green and black beans. The Buddha arrived and told me to unbury the fish bones for a surprise in each one. I ran quickly up to my room and unburied the bones. Inside the jars were a blue satin dress with silver lace trimmings, a pair of blue satin slippers to match the dress, a leather saddle for a horse with golden trim, and a black horse with white furred hooves with beautiful emerald eyes. I was very excited that I suited myself up in my new attire and rode my horse to the castle.…

I looked around my messy house. My stomach made weird noises I don’t think it should have been making. I could tell it was because of the freshness of the food I ate. Something was lingering in my mind I couldn’t stop thinking about. I had this strange urge to go and help Gandhi. It wasn’t a want, it was a need. There was this fire building up inside of my stomach ever since I was dropped at the orphanage, to when Uncle Romonaivsten nurtured me and set me off to my own life, all the way to now. Uncle Romonaivsten was my “adopted father” who took care of me and gave me a lot of money so I could live a life of my own. He was a very rich British businessman and had the softest heart of anybody I met. He felt sorry for me at the orphanage, and adopted me. The majority of my happiest memories are with him. I blamed my parents’ death on the British for taxing them to poverty. They treated us like we were a lower class. This was a golden opportunity for me to avenge my parent’s death. I felt crazy, but I didn’t care, I couldn’t hold it in any longer. All those years just living in my house that I didn’t even buy for myself, and not standing up to the one thing I thought was wrong. I was probably driven crazy like my dad; but I am not going to cowardly suicide like him, I am going to stand up to this regime. I went into my bedroom and started packing up a duffel bag. I put some clothes, a towel, toothpaste, and some other things I always take with me when I go places. I took a rickshaw to the airport. Emotions of hatred and sorrow were tearing me apart. On the way to the airport, I saw poverty in India at its worst. Kids washing cars so they could feed their family. Shoe shiners plagued with malnutrition working for plump, well-fed, British. The dirt roads poorly maintained. At last, when I couldn’t watch any longer, we reached the airport. I booked a ticket for tomorrow. All of my actions were quick, sudden, and hasty, but I didn’t…

I don’t know much about myself, I know I’m an orphan, I know I’m a freak, and of course I know that I’m Japanese. But why do I have such terrible nightmares, filled with hate and blood and guts? I’m not like that at all, I wouldn’t even hurt a fly, oh there he goes, back to his family, oh I envy him. Sometimes I wonder about my parents, are they san masters? Did they serve the emperor? Oh sometimes i wonder what my mom and dad are really like.…

A wooden folding table missing several chunks of surfacing bore my name. Over it I spread an old blue sheet - later in my career (i.e. the next year) I would buy a new black sheet, which appeared to me more professional. I set up the old picture frame my dad and I had converted into my first display. On green wire hooks I placed thirty cards bearing my jewelry. True to the spirit of Rubriataki I had given each piece a unique name: Sleeping Beauty, because the vine pattern reminded me of the fairy tale, Chagall, after the famous artist, and Jester Checks, a checkerboard necklace of red and yellow that, because it was so unappealing, I’ve never managed to sell. At that fair I sold five pieces and was introduced to a woman from a neighboring town who invited me to participate in a much larger holiday show that…

At times, I feel that the universe around me is crumbling to the turf, but it never does. Like most people, I had face to face deadlines, and continuous demands, I’ve experienced the type of misery, that can drive any person insane, that can draw them to harm their self. I got one choice, one ticket. I would use my ticket to go back 22 years in the past to Kigali Rwanda and end a terrible event that created terrible stress on my family, and others. An event that permits me to cease my existence.…

My name is Xing the third. I was named after my great grandmother. I live in the Tuvas village. It was an average day in the village. The temperature had dropped even more from the previous days of the week. The population here continues to rise. There are at least a million people in my country. I woke up, and put on my fur coat to head to outside to feed the animals. The neighbors were whispering things to each other. I think they were talking about me because women don’t get appreciated much, and it’s even worse if you’re young like me. People think that women don’t really have a purpose. All we do is cook, and clean the house. Teenagers like me just sit in their rooms thinking,” Where is my next meal coming from?” Most of society views the women and female kids like me as just another mouth to feed, and another back to clothe. I don’t have that many friends because my parents are really strict. My life mainly revolves around worshiping Buddha and trying to please my parents. I feel like no matter how hard I try it’s never good enough.…

An apartment is a self contained housing unit that occupies only part of a building. Apartments may be owned (by an owner/occupier) or rented (by tenants). My first apartment was located in Brooklyn in the Flatbush section. It was a small but very conveniently located third floor apartment in a elevator building. The building only had five floors with a see through glass lobby entrance. The building had a doorman that worked from four until midnight. He was a very pleasant middle aged gentleman with a carribean accent. The lobby had a sunken waiting area with black leather sofa and arm chairs that looked like they were bought in the 1960`s, but well maintained. When you came into the building in the evening you could smell the strong scents of all types of seasoning especially curry due to the Indian family living near the elevator. When riding the elevator up to my apartment it would shake from side to side and occasionally would hold someone captive until the elevator repairman came to get them out. My apartment was located on the third floor. It had a small foyer with a small closet to the left, a living room that measured 11 feet by 17 feet . It also had a very small kitchen that only one person could cook in at a time otherwise you would be constantly bumping into the other cook. Next to the small kitchen was a half size bathroom whose vanity mirror would steam up due to not having any windows or a proper working ventilation duct. When you came out the bathroom to your right was a small bedroom that you could only get a minimal amount of furniture in. Basically this apartment was in the shape of a box that was sectioned off into four areas. To make it into a home I started with the living room, I painted the walls chocolate brown and bought a sofa to match. The sofa was made of a furry material so I bought an orange chaise lounge to go with the sofa. I also bought earth tone curtains to mellow out the loud look of the orange chaise. I placed the orange chaise…

“When you smoke herb, it reveals yourself to you,” is a famous quote of the pothead and marvelous musician Bob Marley. He felt as though marijuana helped tune in with your inner being. I believe cannabis that cannabis does this too and therefore have become a habitual marijuana consumer. Being in tune with ones inner being is important, yet not the reason that I smoke cannabis. The cannabis plant is beautiful, from the leaf to the buds you smoke. I love the ‘highs’ from smoking marijuana, and last but not least, I love how I can function while ‘high’. The summary is that little nuggets of joy have been crucial in making me who I am now, and I am grateful for everything marijuana has brought.…
