Demonstrate A Pupil's Writing Skills Essay
In the classroom, a teaching assistant could use a variety of techniques to demonstrate a pupil’s writing skills.
• Creative writing: The main purpose for creative writing is to keep the reader entertained. Examples of creative writing are:
• Expressive writing focuses on the individual writing, it shares their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. When writing about a topic, they will express their opinions, thoughts, ideas, and feelings. They can produce expressive writing in poetry, diary, letters, and free writing. Expressive writing is also a great to use in the classroom for pupils to be independent, because there is no right or wrong and they are writing about themselves.
• Poetry is a great way to use an individual’s imagination whilst reflecting on a subject, idea, or an event. It is produced in stanzas and focuses on the message itself. It focuses on the language, the way the language …show more content…
The children should be able to answer three questions about their work:
• Why am I writing this piece of work?
• Who will read it?
• What will happen with the work when it is finished?
Answering these questions will help the pupil focus on the aim or their writing. It encourages them to take more time with their writing and produce better quality work. It also encourages them to think about the reasons people have for writing, supporting the development across a range of genres. A teaching assistant should help expose pupils to different types of writing, as this will build their confidence in coping with different functions of writing.
