Will Defunding Planned Parenthood fix more than I breaks?

Planned Parenthood is a federally funded organization that provides a range of services including abortion, STD testing, contraception, and others. Planned Parenthood has come under scrutiny because of the abortion service they provide. These services benefit millions of people per year 1.2 million as of 2008, unfortunately the exact same number are murdered as a result. In this article we will examine the issue in detail to produce the pros and cons of defunding Planned Parenthood. The morality of abortion has been debated for a very long time in different cultures, even dating back to the 18-19 hundreds. If Planned Parenthood loses its government funding the lost revenue will need to be supplemented with more expensive services to the patients. The increase in price will be substantial considering that 41% of Planned Parenthood's income comes from government funding. If Planned Parenthood is defunded it will decrease the number of abortions yearly. Planned Parenthood performs almost 330k abortions per year, so theoretically defunding them would make these unavailable or much more expensive. There are more abortion providing organizations out there so some of them would still happen and the organizations would undoubtedly expand to accommodate for the new demand. Also it has been theorized that with Planned Parenthood out of the picture the people who want an abortion desperately might attempt one of the many home abortion methods. Home abortion methods usually include extremely high amounts of vitamin C, and various herbs mainly black cohosh. These herbs are generally harmless in fact black cohosh as well as vitamin C are both available over the …show more content…
Unfortunately after the initial savings the impact gets a bit more complicated. A large part of planned parenthood business is contraceptive services if these services were suddenly unavailable from planned parenthood the amount of babies born would increase in the coming months/years. This of course would be a good thing on the ethical side and would effectively accomplish the goal of defunding planned parenthood, however economically it could actually cost the government money after the

Christian Policy Analysist, Sarah Torre, has many things to say on the issue of Planned Parenthood, although she doesn’t necessarily try to see it from a side other than hers.
