Affectionate communication is not one hundred percent certain. Various things state whether or not specific affection is appropriate. “Affectionate behaviors may not always be interpreted by receivers in the way they are intended by sender. Much risk in expressing affection is due to its ambiguous nature. A hug, a wink, or a kiss on the cheek can be intended to express many things, including platonic love, romantic interest, appreciation, and social support” (Floyd and Morman, 2000, p. 287). It is up to the sender to make sure that the receiver is sure which message that they are…

A couple of days ago, I was watching a movie where an English teacher asks her students to discuss ‘what is love’. Majority of the class did not know how to respond. At first, I found this odd considering that love is a universally understood emotion that can be felt by most human beings. We express the emotion on a daily basis, whether it be towards our family, friends, or significant others. However, upon some introspection, I realized that it is difficult to come up with a solid definition for it because of its subjective nature. Love exists in many different forms and holds different meanings for different people.…

A new day can also liberate us from our past mistakes and provide us with a chance to change our ways. We are all faced with misery and misfortune at points in our lives, some more than others. We must recognize that it is not the burden in itself that shapes who we are, but how well or how poorly we deal with the difficulties. Sometimes misfortunes can be seen in a negative light; because it seems unjust, therefore we response in a negative matter, and become negligent to change. Overcoming tragic events is what truly counts, for we are meant to live happily and in acceptance that there are things that we cannot change. In many cases, individuals seem to feel as though they’ve lost an amount so great that they are unable to free themselves of the pain. This perspective often leads to further suffering. A Temporary Matter by Jhumpa Lahou and Kiss Me by Andrew Pyper demonstrate a loss of identity, negligence towards communication, and eventually leading to the destruction of a relationship.…

The Kiss is a work that was painted by the Austrian artist, Gustav Klimt, between the years 1907 and 1908. Klimt utilizes his personal experiences and life changes as his inspiration for the creation of perhaps his most famous work yet. Klimt’s color choices, use of depth, line, and balance, are all techniques that contribute to the message he is trying to convey.
