Definition Essay: What Is Success?
What is success? People may view success in many ways, for example, someone who plays soccer may think if they scored three goals that’ll be a success to them. Another kid may think trying their best and doing better than the last game is a success is to them. In my situation success varies because in my grades I believe that success is 4.0 or if I tried my best. In soccer, success to me is doing better than last game, like trying harder, making more passes, better dribbling, and fewer mistakes. Another example is playing a video game, many people think success is when they pass a level, but other’s may think to beat their high score is a success. My goals are high, but if I tried the best I can that’s success.
What is a failure? There are many perspectives of failure, for example, Bob make think failure is when he doesn’t go to the gym five times each week. Tom might think failure is when he doesn’t gym for one month. Failure for me is when I think it is. Another example is that Jake won second place he may think it’s a failure or he may think it's a success. When I’m trying my best then I fail, I don’t think it's a failure I’ll just try again. Let's say an F is a failure and an A is a success. In this example, success and failure are viewed very differently the question is why. No one wants to get an F because they want to become a failure or a loser. If you ask the whole class if they want an A most of them would say yes because they want to be successful. If you look up that antonym of failure it's going to be a success. Nobody thinks really thinks the last place is a success.
