Decorating a Kid's Table for Christmas
No matter how old you are I am sure you can remember being shoved over to the children’s table at Christmas. This “special” table was usually set with some inedible arrangements and included your very annoying cousin whom you wanted to throttle before you even finished the blessings!! Special was a good word that mom came up with to describe the children’s table. We had one cousin poking you, yelling and throwing food, another would have his nose picking fingers drove into your mashed potatoes and yet another would be telling you how special and perfect they are in each and every way!! The worst part was being stuck at the table when you are a teenager and really didn’t want any part of your runny nosed younger siblings and cousins. Even worse than that was being stuck at that table as a 5 year old and being forced to look after your 1 year old cousin!! This is an awkward age for most kids and being placed on a too small chair next to a runny nosed 2 year old can be very nerve wracking and upsetting to some teens. Giving teens and tweens a table of their very own with adult chairs will give them a feeling of importance and will allow them to catch up with each other without the interruptions of flying food and irrational screaming prevalent in the smaller children.
Now, for the table itself. For the smaller kids you will want to start with a large piece of white craft paper or butcher paper. Wrap the table in the paper and voila!! You have a tablecloth meant to be ruined!! For the teen table use a vinyl tablecloth with some funky Christmas themes on it. Even try going retro. Retro is all the rage now a days!!
