The Death Penalty in the Christian World!
Many Christians believe that the death penalty is wrong but there is evidence in
the world today and in biblical history.
!
The death penalty is a service provided by the state to punish criminals who have
committed horrible acts of murder. Some examples of criminals who have been put down by the death penalty are Timothy McVeigh, Ted Bundy, and Cameron Todd Willinham.
Timothy McVeigh was executed in 2001 for killing 168 people and injuring hundreds more. His last words were that after he died that the score would be “168 to 1”. Ted
Bundy was executed for murdering more than 30 people across America, every victim was strangled to death and then there bodies were sexually violated. Cameron Todd
Willingham was executed for locking his 3 children in a house and burning them alive.
These people have been justly punished because they are wicked. The wicked are punished in the bible. Ehud kills the wicked king Eglon in the book of Judges and Jael drives a tent spike through Sisera’s head. The Lord wipes out thousands of people when he destroyed the wicked citys of Sodom and Gamora. The bible also tells us to submit to our government. Matthew 22:21 tells us to “give to Caesar’s what is Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s”. God has put our government in authority over us so we should trust it. this is not to say that our government is perfect, it is sinful because it is run by sinful creatures but it does its best.
The death penalty is an effective way of keeping our society clean and in no way
against christian life.
