Dear Abby
Dear Abby,
I have left my family and moved to Malaysia to work. Since I have been here my family has become very absent. In the beginning they used to email me all of the time, asking about my life and experiences here. Now, 5 years later, no one calls or even emails to see how I am. The truth is that I’m starting to feel like we are not close anymore. I know they love me because we are family and we will always be, but is it too much to expect for them to check in once in a while? Do you think I am being unreasonable? I don’t want to tell them how I feel because then they will only keep in contact because they feel they have to rather than wanting to. What would you do? Signed a sad/confused reader

Dear sad/confused reader,
Hi, I have read your letter and I am just giving you some ideas and advice. To me, I think you are being a little unreasonable. You should take it easy and do not think too much about it. I assure that your family realizes this situation as well. I’m not sure whether you put in effort or not. If you made effort and no positive result were shown, then you are reasonable and you don’t expect too much. But if you are just waiting for them to do something, then everything will remain the way it currently is, and you are definitely expecting too much. If I were you, I would make an effort to show that I care about my family by calling them or maybe emailing them every week. If they are not responsive then tell them how you feel and make a plan or solution to solve this problem together. Maybe both sides should call each other, fair and square. I shall pen off now. Good luck to you and your family, all the best! From Abby

In this short article Yagelski goes in depth about the importance literacy plays in todays society. What Abby seems to fail to understand is that everyone has a say and to be illiterate is completely useless. In order to make a difference you must speak your mind (wisely) as she did when she was arguing about the issue, once you are heard people seem to either follow you or keep their distance, either way though you got their attention. In the high school setting knowing your facts and speaking your mind is key to prosperity. Abby could become part of the high school ASB which entitles a great deal of power; the author states that she, along with her fellow classmates, are very literate when it comes to electronics (as it seems that everyone in the upcoming generations are) which is key to improving her surroundings and showing peers that they want to make a difference.…

Abigail Adams' insightful letter of advice did not only inspire her son, but the children of America. As the wife of 2nd president John Adams, her involvement politically was unavoidable, so she implanted the ideas of environmental and political proactivity via a well composed letter to her son. This letter's success cannot be based on its concept alone, but also by its employment of formal language and historical/biblical allusions to ascend her ethos into that of great American history.…

Abigail Adams is often considered one of the first to push for equality between men and women. She was the wife of the second President of the United States and the mother of the sixth. Because of her position in life and American History her correspondence between her husband and many others has been preserved and gives readers a glimpse into American society during some of the most crucial events that shaped America as we know it. Though her words did not start a revolution of women rising up against men to claim equal rights, they did serve as inspiration and helped shape the minds of women for generations. The writings of Abigail Adams were just building blocks that led to the Women’s Rights Movement. “Rome was not…

    Essay On Abigail Letters

Despite having a limited education, these letters portray Abigail to be an intelligent woman with brilliant ideas for the future of the United States. Her ideas of the future had a great impact on how many important articles were written and what it meant for the people of the nation. One example of this would be when Abigail wrote to John and asked for Congress not to forget about the rights of women. Their correspondence also involved a lot of political talk, which led to the conclusion that John thought of Abigail as an equal instead of just a housewife. These letters also revealed that Abigail gave John advice about many topics, and that he actually appreciated the words of wisdom and took them to heart. However, the main theme that is revealed in these letters is loneliness.…

Before i had a family, i dreamed of my "made up family", having a joyous time. Well that sure made me understand perception can alter your true life experiences when you go thru real situations. My point being, it was June of 2015 last year, and my small family and my mother planned to take a trip. My mother resides in New Mexico and we live in Las Vegas, so the demand for togetherness was of a longing feeling. One could say even mutual. When all the plans went thru we were on our way to Las Cruces,N.M. We were initially going to pick up my baby daughter. She had been with my mother for a few months and daddy was missing her. At this time i had'nt seen my family in 16 years and they were interested in meeting my wife and kids for the first…

I admire your decision to refrain from any sexual activity until you are married; that way, you can avoid the many negative problems that are a result of it. The best way to tell your boyfriend that you want to be abstinent is upfront with no sugar-coating. By telling him directly how you feel, he should take you very seriously and respect your decision more than if he has to infer it from your implication; however, do not delve into the subject matter too quickly or else both of you will leave the conversation feeling awkward and confused. When things get romantic, there are other things to do than engage in sexual activity: you guys can watch a movie or do something else that will preoccupy and distract your mind. In order to control yourself, do not give in to your impulses and do something else in order to divert your attention; same with your boyfriend! Clarifying a point I made earlier, abstinence helps avoid negative and potentially life-threatening health issues: these issues include but are not limited to STI’s and emotional distress. If your boyfriend does not respect your decision to remain abstinent and consistently pressures you to have sex, then you know that it is time to leave him. A partner who truly loves and cares for you should respect your decision despite if he does not agree with it. I hope you and your boyfriend have a happy and continuous relationship.…
