David Hilbert was born January 23, 1862, in Konigsberg, Prussia he died February 14,1943, in Gottingen Germany from appendicitis at the age of 81. He was born to his father Otto who was a reputable city judge and his mother Maria who was interested in philosophy and astronomy. David Hilbert was baptized and brought up according to the Reformed Protestant Church. However later on he became a non believer and argued that mathematical truth was independent of the existence of God.
