In the beginning of the story Dally and Ponyboy didn't get along the best. But throughout the story they became closer. Dally’s death happened right after he stole from the store. The cops showed up and circled around Dally under a street light. Dally soon pulled out a gun and acted like it was loaded but it really wasn't. How would the cops know that? They did not know that. After the cops told Dally to put the gun down multiple times and Dally still wouldn't do it so they shot him. Ponyboy took this really hard because him and Dally had gotten very close. Also dally had helped Ponyboy and Johnny out whenever they needed something. So I think that Ponyboy was really mad because he didn't stop it from happening. Also now Ponyboy is dealing with two deaths of his very good friends. “I knew he would be dead, because Dally Winston wanted to be dead and he always got what he wanted” said Ponyboy (Hinton…

The Curtis boys eat chocolate cake every morning, page 105 says this “The first one up has to make breakfast, I started to find the eggs we need for our chocolate cake we eat every morning for breakfast, along with our chocolate milk.” This is some proof that Ponyboy should go to the system. He would be better off with the system because, the cake has a lot of sugar and it’s he’s eating a block of sugar everyday. So if Ponyboy stays with Darry he could get bad stomach problems involving diabetes and stomach and health issues. So the opponents that are on Darry’s side might argue that “ He’s a kid let him eat what he wants.” Then back to the system side, “ What’s good with letting him eat what he wants, when it could lead him to health issues, body problems, and possibly dying. So now that the system has a step up, Ponyboy will be better off with the system because they will make sure he gets a good breakfast EVERY MORNING!…

Ponyboy is very intelligent and is aware that education can lead to a better future for him. He is the only person in the gang that has a chance at being successful one day. Ponyboy resents fighting while the rest of the gang admires it. “Why do I fight? I thought, and couldn’t think of any real good reason for fighting except for self-defense.” -Ponyboy Curtis page Ponyboy prefers to resolve problems without having to use violence; he only fights when it’s necessary. Darry is already trying to protect Ponyboy from becoming like the rest of the Greasers, he understands that Ponyboy has a bright future and it can not be ruined by the environment he has grown up in(Being raised around people who like to fight and steal things from stores). Ponyboy is selfless unlike the rest of the gang. He rushed into the church to save the kids (knowing that he likely caused the fire) instead of running away to keep himself safe from the police. He didn’t even think about himself before he rushed into the…

Dally is a criminal. Just like Ponyboy is peaceful, Dally is violent. “He’s the type of person who’ll probably find the fight. (pg 28)” This can be easily interpreted to me that he'll go looking for one and if there isn't one around he'll definitely start one. The only reason a person would want to fight is because they have a deep seeded resentment against their status in life and the crave excitement. This is confirmed when Ponyboy says, “Dally blew off steam in gang fights… (pg 47)” That means that he wasn’t fighting for a cause, nor for monetary gain. He also slits tires for fun. Both of these clean cut fact point towards an obvious conclusion. It can only mean that for him, violence and crime is a form of entertainment. He has nothing…

When reading the beginning of the novel, Sodapop is a cheerful person. This character trait can be seen when Ponyboy tells the reader that “He’s always happy-go-lucky and grinning” (2). Ponyboy loves sodapop because he is a lot less firm than Darry. He is rarely ever angry. Another instance of Sodapop’s cheerfulness is when Ponyboy explains “I guess it’s because he’s always grinning so much himself” (8). Ponyboy was jumped by the socs and Sodapop finds…

“Let me fight, Darry…” “Well”-Darry gave in-”I guess you can.” ( Hinton. 135) This quote is showing Darry is letting Ponyboy be involved in things that can get him hurt or even killed, Darry is not thinking of the consequences of how Ponyboy can get hurt in that Rumble . Darry wasn’t so convinced of letting him go , yes that’s good, but Darry still let him go fight in this big rumble , if he were a better guardian he would’ve left him at home. Knowing that Ponyboy could get hurt Darry still let him fight and if he really did care about him he would’ve not let him go. A good guardian thinks if he will get hurt and the consequences first, instead of just letting a kid go to a big fight where he could get hurt. “Darry’s hard and firm and rarely grins at all.” this quote shows how Darry doesn’t show any emotion and isn’t really happy , Ponyboy shouldn’t be with someone that is serious all the time and shows no feelings , because he can become like that too . Ponyboy might not tell Darry things because he probably thinks Darry doesn’t care because he never shows emotions, and Ponyboy should be with someone that is a least a bit happy and boost Ponyboy’s emotions . In the system Ponyboy will be…

After that Darry told Randy to leave because he was reminding Ponyboy about Johnny, which was hard for Ponyboy because he missed him. Ponyboy is in a heavy state of denial at this point. Anger and Aggressiveness are some of the most tempting emotions in life. When most people feel like you have offended them their main instinct is to defend them and get angry that they would ever think that because they did “nothing”. Sometimes, people can seem mad or even mean for reasons you may not know or understand. Even people who act like this constantly can deep down sometimes be nice and have a reason for their regular meanness. A story by Toni Cade Bambara called “Raymond’s Run” features a girl called Hazel ,known as Squeaky, who appears sassy and hostile. The only thing she thinks that are worthwhile in her life are her brother Raymond and her life as a runner. If anyone tries to hurt Raymond, she would rather knock you down than…
