Dana Leake: Becoming An Effective Mentor
I hope all is well, I am writing this email to inquire about next steps after my track is complete in June. I have been in my seasonal supervisor role for a little over 2 months and it has been a great learning and development experience and I am overall, enjoying the process. Discipleship programs are present in the church, but unfortunately I do not think that many churches look at spiritual mentoring quite in the same way as proposed in the book. I feel that the church now more than ever has a crucial need for spiritually mature men and women to mentor younger believers. In order for these younger…

    1. Why are you interested in serving as a peer mentor again? I am interested in serving as a peer mentor again next year because of the experiences and opportunities that I have had so far. Looking back on my experiences in Econ 110, I appreciated the guidance I received from the class and from my peer mentors. I am excited to continue to help the incoming freshman class adjust to college by preparing them for life as an Agricultural Business student. More specifically preparing them for the CALS career fair, working with each student of their four-year plans, and being available for any questions they may have.…

This chapter discusses how cloud technologies provide tools to help build the mentoring relationships that are needed for doctoral students to become scholars in their own right. I draw on observed examples and experiences to discuss a model of cognitive apprenticeship as first described by Collins, Brown, and Newman (1986) and Collins, Brown, and Holum, (1991). As…
