Cruelty-It's Time To Stop Animal Testing
Many animals are suffering from the experiments they go through, such being the test dummies for cosmetics like for makeup, shampoo, etc. Animals should not be suffering because of makeup. One believes makeup is not a necessity to humans. In America, a well know organization is working on ending animal testing. The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International “are committed to ending animal testing-forever. Through our Be Cruelty-Free campaign, we are working in the U.S. and around the globe to create a world where animals no longer have to suffer to produce lipstick and shampoo” (The Humane Society, 2017). This big organization understands that animals are suffering for non-essential things that humans use, but don’t have to use. They only use it because they want to. Animals are being tested for things that we don’t need, but one does understand that people need shampoo when taking a shower. Therefore, animals should test our products before people buy them …show more content…
There are many animal testing facilities all around the world to find cures and treatments for medical purposes and products that humans used daily. Therefore, “On average, it costs a company more than $1 billion to get one new drug to the market.NIH alone spends almost half of its funding-up to $14.5 billion of our tax dollars yearly-on animal testing” (Akhtar, 2013). Animal testing is a billion-dollar industry. Even though, animal testing is a billion-dollar industry, some of the animals are treated poorly, in the conditions they live and how they are treated. Animal testing facilities are funded by tax payers who instead of funding animal testing they should fund money to the poor communities to built better hospitals, schools, infrastructures, etc. However, it is expensive for animal testing facilities to run, but we need these facilities to run because animal testing benefits us

“The world does not need another eyeliner, hand soap, food ingredient, drug for erectile dysfunction, or pesticide so badly that it should come at the expense of animals’ lives” (Top five). Animals are being wasted every year by testing them on useless products that are not necessary. In addition, the animals are killed at the end of each test, thus, thousands of animals die with pain. The tests the animals receive are inhumane. “To test rabbits for development of toxicity, a pregnant rabbit is taken and exposed by force feeding, throughout her pregnancy. She is killed on the day she is expected to give birth. Her babies are extracted and evaluated for birth defects” (Cosmetic). These types of testing are morally wrong.…

Though animal testing should be banned from ever being practiced or used again, people still view it as a necessity despite all of the evidence against it. Animal testing requires inhumane, unsanitary, unsafe, or cruel conditions that if done to humans would be outlawed since they either reduce the quality of life or cause disease or death. Seeing that animals are living, breathing creatures that want to survive just as much as people do, assuming that test conditions are not good for human kind, then they are not good for any living creatures. Furthermore, they are inherently wrong by nature. Tolerating animal cruelty promotes the same insensitivity that allows cruelty to people, such as serial killers and the early incidents of animal torture.…

Animal testing has always been a dispute between people; some people think it’s morally wrong and some people think it helps with medical and scientific breakthroughs. Drugs that people use or cosmetics that are used could have been tested through animals before being stocked on shelves. About 800 animals are tested on before a drug is passed to clinical trials (“Is animal”). Many animals get tested on, but many like mice, rabbits, hamsters, monkeys, dogs, cats, pigs, and some other animals get tested on. Animals can be used to find new advances in medical treatment and check safety for products, but these animals that get tested on can go through pain and death. Animal testing is wrong and should be stopped because…

Animal testing has been a topic of debate for many generations. It is difficult to imagine a common house hold pet subjected to extreme procedures of the mildest and painless form to the harshest form imaginable. I am talking about your average mouse, rabbit, cat or dog. At the same time, consumers want to be assured they are using the safest products available, and people want science to find cures for life-threatening diseases. Lately, science has tried to prove out theories and hypnosis through computer algorithms but we still have to rely on physical subjects like the animals referenced. There is no public argument that says we should not test products before entering the market, the debate is the method by which these products should be tested. Animal testing is necessary for biomedical research, but should be eradicated for vanity reasons in terms of cosmetics.…

Animal rights have been presented to the public through organizations who fund, petition, and inform the the people about animal rights. One organization is Cruelty Free International who works with makeup companies to ensure no animals are harmed or used in the making of a makeup product. Various countries have put regulations prohibiting the use of animals as a means to test the toxicity of a product; others have put strict laws enforcing animal testing must be performed prior to releasing a product to the public. For example, in China all beauty products must undergo specific tests ensuring the product will not cause any irritations;however, this comes at the expense of harming animals in laboratories. Animal testing is undoubtedly one of the most controversial issues in modern society. This practice began in the 19th century; animals were used to test dosing of certain drugs and chemicals. In the 1920’s, animals were also being used to test pesticides and food additives (Fano, 11). Today, animal testing is used to study everything from cosmetics to cancer. With such a wide range of opinions on animal rights and human priority, it is no wonder that this topic is so controversial. There are people who have an extreme view on the issue and are either completely pro or completely con. In my opinion, the issue of animal testing is far too complex for one simple answer; its morality lies somewhere in between the two poles. Animal testing is acceptable if it results in saving people’s lives. It is not acceptable, however, if it results in personal or cosmetic products that are far from vital to the human race.…
