    At the beginning of the poem, they both have a typical relationship. An example is, “Abuelito who throws coins like rain and ask who loves him.” Doing such an action obviously is a way to earn the granddaughters' love. As the poem progresses, Abuelito is getting older and becoming more and more ill. The granddaughter seems ignorant as to how grave this is turning out to be, as she simply says that "[he] can't come out to play" and "[he] sleeps in his room all night and day. When someone is sick, the best remedy is sleep.
