Critical Reflection On Group Work
My performance on this assignment was a 7/10 because for this assignment I came to school for most of the days and for the one day I missed it was excused. My use of class time was pretty good, I finished all of my slides early so I could help make the presentation better. I don't have very much pride in my work because I know that I could have done a better job. And lastly, my collaboration with my group was good but during the presentation I didn't get to talk much so that's what I could have done better.

Groups may be defined in many ways, indeed providing an absolute definition of a group, as with much of the theory around group work, is highly problematic and contestable. However for the purposes of discussing groupwork within a context of working with young people we may define a group as a small gathering of young people. Group work may simplistically be described as the study and application of the processes and outcomes experienced when a small group comes together.…

I would rate my project a 8.0 because the project did work, but not as we expected. We thought our project was pretty good, but wasn’t better than the others. There were some things that help our project successful. But the most successful thing of all was the ramp at the beginning. I thought that it was the most important because it gave enough velocity to the marble for it to roll all the way to the end.…

David R. Seibold and Paul Kang’s “Using Critical Praxis To Understand and Teach Teamwork” is driven by a logical appeal by using various articles and readings in order to point out the gaps between the academic teaching and theories of teamwork and the actual practice of teamwork. This can be seen as they used supporting research to indicate the discrepancies between the different teambuilding concepts as they explain both the predominant and less obvious approaches in understanding the concept of teamwork.…

When effective group management and high organisation skills are applied, group work can bring students a wide range of skills and abilities related to people and problem solving. Group work demonstrates student’s capacity to communicate effectively, share and consider opinions, establish trust, analyse the group process, resolve conflicts and also develop their creativity. However, the constructive learning and beneficial results does not always come as a result of group work. For instance, if the students can not perceive the objective of the group work in order to achieve a common goal, or to lay back or believe that the work load can be relied on other members of…

There is a person in my department, let’s call her Susan, who is very intimidating in meetings. When we have a discussion or meeting it’s her way or the highway. In meetings there is generally no one who will stand up to her. Let’s have some background for perspective. Susan has been at the company for twenty-five years and knows everything. She is the historian who remembers everyone and everything we have ever tried.…

Even though when we work in groups we usually strive for a harmonious and cooperative environment, this does not mean that an environment in which all members are in total agreement is desirable. The phenomenon termed groupthink describes the kind of situations in which each member of a group attempts to conform his/her opinion to what they believe to be the consensus of the group. Whereas this might be seen by some as a way of keeping the peace among group members, it is a rather negative attitude to have, as concentrating on "playing nice" usually detracts from the process of actually tackling the issues and exploring creative solutions. Thus, it becomes imperative to identify the symptoms of groupthink in order to correct it.…

In my current position, as a house supervisor, I work with five other nurses to provide 24 hour coverage within our facility. As a group, we all have varying degrees of experience and range in age from the youngest member, in her mid-20s, to our oldest member who is 64 years old. Working within this multigenerational group has led to some difficulties in communication and expectations among members as I will expand upon further.…

In this interview/process recording for the 3rd grade girls that were present in group, FY was absent, the girls for this day showed a different type of participation then from their previous counseling session. It was an improvement in seeing the girls engaging, and participating. At the start of the session, I was rushing against time to get the session going, and ending on a god note. Personally, I felt as though I was having a hard time in getting the session running smoothly, but I did what I can to get the girls to participate in their writing activity, and fun activity towards the end of their group session. The girls did very well in their group session. I am seeing an improvement in FE, by her communicating more in group. She is participating…
