Group Reflection Paper
In this interview/process recording for the 3rd grade girls that were present in group, FY was absent, the girls for this day showed a different type of participation then from their previous counseling session. It was an improvement in seeing the girls engaging, and participating. At the start of the session, I was rushing against time to get the session going, and ending on a god note. Personally, I felt as though I was having a hard time in getting the session running smoothly, but I did what I can to get the girls to participate in their writing activity, and fun activity towards the end of their group session. The girls did very well in their group session. I am seeing an improvement in FE, by her communicating more in group. She is participating …show more content…
ZB is enjoying group with her members, and Group Leader. She participates in group without any problems. When observing JC in group, she maintains a positive attitude as group goes on. As for PJ, she is starting to participate in group more. It seems as though she is willing accept help when help is offered to complete her writing activity. My objective for the 3rd grade girls for their group session was achieved. The girls, on their own were able to determine positive thoughts about themselves. The positive thoughts they individually written are positive traits, aspects, and etc. that they develop based on their behavior, and academics. Their individual positive thoughts/qualities is helping me in getting to know them while in conducting their group sessions. Overall, the girls participation in their group session, they were able to by follow directions, listen, accept my assistance to help them, and accomplished in completing their activities for their session. The focus for this group in the future is to continue in getting to know the girls. I want to help the girls to learn how and what to do when faced with problems involving their self-esteem and social skills. I want to learn how to change their/the negative behavior into positive behavior as a reminder in group, school, and around

The students were encouraged to ask each other questions as well as add to and challenge the answers provided by others. I utilized this opportunity to move students, as I seen fit, when formulating these groups. This allowed me to unite the lower ability student with the higher ability student. I felt this coming together greater impacted on the overall development of the students social skills. It gave the lower ability student confidence to offer an answer up to the teacher for consideration knowing that what she is about to say is coherent, having came to its conclusion with another student. I praised the good that she attempted to do and tried to ignore what wrong she does, in the hope that praise becomes a goal and provided her with motivation for further appropriate behaviour and…

3.4 I help to support children and young people to develop their teamwork, agreements and the way they interact with others by encouraging the group I am assisting to work together at certain times as required. Allowing time for them to be able to give input with their own ideas and questions whilst at the same time respecting and listening to others and giving them an equal opportunity to give input with their own views and ideas. Ultimately, and with encouragement where it is required, they will come together in a mutual or majority group agreement, which each child will have had some input into. I would do this by nurturing the children's ability to take turns at speaking and valuing others speaking time.…

1.2 Over the past year I have gained some strengths, I have become a lot more confident so that has put a positive attitude / impact in small groups that I work with because the children have more confidence towards me, and actually want to do the asked task rather than running away or not really engaging. Also the way in which I teach the groups has improved, because I’ve taken advice from other members of staff who have done it a lot longer than I have and know what things work and which things don’t…

In the recent group activity, I was a member in a group of four. I had been absent from class when the groups were allocated and the two members present were given the task of choosing each of our roles. I felt they chose the more difficult roles for themselves, the introduction and conclusion, although I base that on the knowledge of my own strengths and weaknesses, with no knowledge of theirs. They assigned the work conflict to me, which I thought was a logical choice, given my occupation as a police officer.…

The formation of our group was an abrupt process, a mishmash of people who are interested in helping the same target group, which in this case was for schooling youths. The six of us came together as strangers to this project, signing up based on a mutual interest in helping schooling youths. At this stage, the objective of our group was to foster accomplishment of identified work goals (Hepworth, 2013), which was to meet the needs of youths facing esteem issues.…

    Parent Child Interview

My goal on parent interview is to see parent’s view on peer relationship, family relationship education, and her opinion on children’s social skills. I would name her Mindy. I asked Mindy what does she teach her children on peer relationship. She said the basic greeting is needed, need to say hi to peers when they meet. Next, I asked her about if she thinks her children have positive relationship with their peers. Her answer was yes because they talk, play, and share food and toys together. Mindy understands the importance of peer relationship, and the positive and negative effects. She thinks when they study together, the peers would encourage each other to focus on their works and increase the quality. However, when they are with some peers who do not listen well and behave negatively, these could influence the children’s attitude that sometimes, children would learn to behave negatively. Even though there are negative effects on peer relationship, Mindy would still encourage her children to interact with their peers on education and play together to promote their social skills. In the article “Peer Effects in Preschool Classrooms: Is Children’s Language Growth Associated With Their Classmates’ Skills?”, Justice explained that if children do indeed learn directly from one another, higher achievement levels among one’s peers should have a positive and direct effect on a child’s learning (Thrupp et al., 2002; Justice, 2011). As what I stated above, Dick and Vick think they have good social skills; however, Mindy has different opinion. She said no. She thought her children are too shy. When someone they do not know, they are too shy and not willing to communicate with others even though a simple task to ask the server have an extra plate. Moreover, when others do not initiate the conversation, they would not interact with them proactively. She thinks her children need to work on their…
