“This is a sorry sight”
It was always for her.
I couldn’t take it, I was jealous. She went behind my back and I knew. Her effortless smile, glossy, silky brown hair and eyes so dark, that they can see to the pits of your soul. Lips that have a shine like polished glass. I couldn’t take it.
Driving. Witnessing my last glimpses of life. The trees violently stumbling side to side in the gale force winds. The clouds discolouring: from a snow white to a mouldy grey, shield encasing its inhabitants. The biting cold was a very strong reminder that it was December the 22nd and ever so close to my once happy anniversary.
The gale force winds ripped the trees from their roots; like a dancer on the cliffs, leaves decorating its branches like multi-coloured sequins on a tribal dress summoning the rain. With the swiftness and speed of a baby gazelle but with the power of an ox, the tree hurtled to the ground. Like it had been stabbed from the back by a solder.
Leaving the car my transition slow: my intentions strong. Glimpsing every single droplet of muddy substance, known as sea. I wave goodbye to every living thing on this spherical place; earth the only planet in this infinite galaxy that I by chance happened to be born. But I take the gift of life for granted. I say goodbye. Now standing on the never ending grains of sand, which are being slapped and slashed by the master of life.
The sea.
The almost grey coloured water was inviting me, my way out, my saviour- my murderer. Its ice cold lips softly brushing my feet. I was preparing myself for what I was about to do. My skin stood my hairs still: my heart quick.
I take my first step.
Ankles throbbing, toes blistering, knees numbing: yet I carry on. The never ending chill- my legs weaken. I don’t recall my eyes weeping; but now with blood shot eyes, and cheeks that resemble the walls of a fountain.
I submerge.
Lips an unbroken barrier. Eyes sealed shut. I wait…
My lungs crippled, screaming, begging for

As he sat stiff backed and upright in the hard wooden chair, Jotham looked around anxiously. He could only see three of the walls, and the ceiling, if he craned his neck upwards, but that was enough to make him very uneasy indeed. They were grey and bare - not silver grey, but a horrible murky grey, that made it seem like everything was closing in on him. The room was rectangular; not at all wide; there was perhaps a metre between him and the nearer two walls, but it was extremely lengthy; probably about fifteen metres long.…

I was so tired, even attempting to keep my eyes open was a struggle. My whole body was achy after a hard day’s of school work, constantly staring at a computer screen and typing away, just to finish an essay. My pale white hands, frozen by the air conditioning blasting on high, were holding on to the steering wheel like a person gripping the edge of a cliff, hoping not to fall into a dark abyss. My brain wanted to give in, to remain in the sleep that I kept dangerously drifting in and out of. I took a look outside, the road looking meek. The rows if brush hoars any objects spattered off the road by vehicles in the August sun. It felt like I was going around in a circle, my tires skating around the bends and turns of the road. I felt maybe I should slow down so I do not lose…

    Poem

I think this poem is trying to tell us that when you have got ups or downs in life, you can’t do anything to change what has happened and you just to just carry on. I thought this because when he uses ‘The tide rises, the tide falls’, it makes me think of something that has ups and downs because the movement of the tides at sea is being compared to how humans like us have similar ups and downs. Sometimes we feel very happy (the tides go up high) and sometimes we feel very down (when the tide falls). For a moment, I thought that he was talking about the life span of a human and that we need to appreciate the time we have on the earth. I think this because the poet used lots of sentences like ‘The twilight darkens, the curlew calls’ it made me think that ‘Twilight darkens’ meant the face of death because if you compare your life to a battery for instance, you would notice the battery would get dimmer and dimmer and when its dim, its dead. And when he mentions ‘Curlew Calls’ its making me think that it means the call of death because a Curlew is a bird with a really long beak and it made me think of it as a call of death because to a lot of animals, its their predator. When the poet uses the sentence ‘The traveller hastens towards the town’ it made me think that its somebody out at sea trying to get back to shore to escape death because the words ‘hastens’…

Just like every other day after school, Katie was taking a shortcut across a meadow to get home. She was walking in the meadow, surrounded by tall, green grass and flowers in all colours of the rainbow. She decided to explore the meadow and the forest surrounding it. She walked towards the forest, picking flowers on the way. Katie was so busy twisting the flower stems together to make necklaces, that she didn't see the large hole a few meters ahead of her. Tumbling into the deep hole, Katie hit her head on a rock and landed deep in the earth.…

I stood on the slightly warm grainy, yet soft sand as I faced the calm crashing of the loose small waves. The mysterious light that radiated off the moon, showed me the promise which the night holds. The clouds escaped my sight for just this one night to show me the beauty of the twinkling ball of fire in the midnight colored sky. Silence mixed with the soft roll of the ocean permeated the area around me.The breeze danced through my hair, and cupped my face, while it filled my nose with the strong stench of salt air. The salt air was strong enough that I could taste the heavy mass in my mouth.…
