General Purpose:To Inform
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience of the creative process of creating a comic book.
Central Idea: I will inform you all of the artistic process of creating a comic book: Penciling, Inking, and Coloring as well as examples of Artists who break these rules.

Introduction A. According to The Comics Chronicles, the North American Comics Industry made an estimated 715 million dollars last year. From sales of print comic book, graphic novels, comic shops, and mass marketing in the U.S. only. B. This medium is steadily increasing in popularity due to the many popular shows and movies based on comic books. They have become ingrained in our culture. As an artist and visual learner, I have always been interested in comic books and as of the last four or five years have been developing the knowledge and skill set for my interest to become a possible career path. C.I will inform the you all of the artistic process of creating a comic book which includes: Penciling, Inking, and Coloring as well as examples of Artists who break these rules. Penciling A. The penciler receives a script from the writer detailing what the art should represent panel by panel. B. According to Buddy Scalera in in is book Creating Comics from Start to Finish, The penciler then makes the descriptions come to life by fleshing them out in graphite, as seen in this picture. Once they are approved, the pencil drawings are sent to the inker. [Now that I have told you about the penciling, let me tell you about the inking.] Inking A. The inker receives the drawing from the penciler and traces it digitally in photoshop, as seen behind me. B. Sometimes, the penciler and inker are the same person, but normally the job is split up because of time constraints and efficiency. [Now that I have told you about inking, let me tell you about coloring.]
