1. Develop an argument supporting the importance of a strategic plan for the success of the defined business.
The business I have chosen to write about is the pharmaceutical business. In order to become a successful business in this field a business manager needs and must know the importance in education on all aspects of the field. Pharmaceuticals are not only about medicine, but also about the education, the knowledge bases that back up this medication as well as knowing that this medication is at the top of the line available to its buyers is not only performance but also cost.
The strategic plan I want to present for the business is simple. First it must prove it is what the business needs to survive in today’s competition. Second, it must prove that it will last for more than just the current medications but for future planning without losing the cost and effectiveness to allow the buyers ( both patients as well as facilities ) to afford it at a reasonable price. Third it needs to be able to be laid out in simple terms that are both reachable and also challenging in order to improve current conditions of the business. In saying this, it is necessary to find a strategic plan that allows this business to compete with the generic market of medications available and the current competitors with the same kinds of medications. Strategic planning helps guide a business in the right direction to achieve the goals it has set. It makes the company’s intentions clear to employees so that they know their part in the success of an organization. A strategic plan helps the members of an organization alien themselves with common goals. Employees should be committed to the implementation plan as well as poses extensive knowledge of the plan and should receive training in the new procedures in order for the implementation plan to work. This extensive training should include information for a better understanding of the importance of the strategic plan, how to handle the new procedures and also know the benefits and incentives of the strategic plan that is implemented. It is clear that without a strategic plan a business is set up for failure, without any goals not knowing where it is headed. Crafting and executing strategy are the heart and soul of managing a business enterprise. But exactly what is involved in developing a strategy and executing it proficiently? What are the various components of the strategy-making, strategy-executing process and to what extent are company personnel—aside from senior management—involved in the process? This chapter presents an overview of the ins and outs of crafting and executing company strategies. Special attention will be given to management’s direction-setting responsibilities—charting a strategic course, setting performance targets, and choosing a strategy capable of producing the desired outcomes. We will also explain why strategy making is a task for a company’s entire management team and discuss which kinds of strategic decisions tend to be made at which levels of management.
