How could you be responsible to others, if you cannot sustain yourself economically enough? Let’s face it: not all of us are rich. Even business needs profit. The term CSR or "corporate social responsibility" is often used interchangeably with corporate responsibility, corporate citizenship, social enterprise, sustainability, sustainable development, triple-bottom line, corporate ethics, and in some cases corporate governance. Nonprofit organizations such as charities, foundations, religious organizations etc. are one of the organizations that are engage in CSR. They got their funds from gifts or donations, loan financing, equity capital and such. I believe that these NGO’s help the society from the bottom of their hearts. They do not wait something in return. They just intentionally lend a hand. Williams (2013) quoted Mackey’s definition "the purpose of business is to create sustainable value for all stakeholders." That’s it. Implementing CSR on corporation? I disagree with that. Why an entrepreneur puts up a business? It is because he has a business plan, he has enough capital, he has suppliers, and he wants to sell. Finally, he wants to earn profits. In short, he has self interest. Corporation however, has a wide range of system. They still have this same self interest. But this is a win-win situation: consumers will buy to them, consume what they have bought, thus consumers benefit from the corporation. On the part of the business, they have gained profit. As to quote Mintzberg “…Businessmen, even at their most idealistic, are not prepared to act in a systematically unbusinesslike way”. For instance, in a fast food chain, the corporation is being “socially responsible” because they give scholarship to those working students/ their service crews.
