Memo
I have been assigned to obtain five obstacles a corporation has faced, the following scenarios have occurred and I am suggesting an improvement solution to their situations. I have observed different situations within different companies that I feel could have been handed in a more productive way. I want to take what I have learned from those situations and as well as this course, to implement a better solution.
The following five obstacles are from the actual management problems that have occurred. I have followed the situation carefully, and did some research on how it should have been handled, so please don’t read ahead.
Once the report has been reviewed, please feel free to reach out to me for a follow up meeting to address any concerns or questions that you might have afterwards. (134 words)
Problem # 1: Fatigue management by truck drivers in real life situations
There have been plenty of times I have come across trucking accidents on the news, in the newspaper, or flash across my cell phone. These accidents are nine times out of ten caused by fatigued truck drivers.
Truck driver fatigue is a major safety issue for truck drivers and the public in general. Although training prepares drivers to effectively operate a truck, it tends to minimize the importance of working constraints faced daily on-the-job and thus reduces its impact on safety and effectiveness. With experience, drivers develop skills to combat fatigue. Documenting these skills can contribute to improved training of apprentices. (101 words)
Solution # 1: Successful suggestion to improve training
An ethnographic approach should be used to better understand the real-life fatigue management skills of truck drivers. Participant observation should be used to analyze the activity of apprentices in training and the activity of truck drivers at work. Observations indicate that training is more focused on time management and regulations, but didn’t prepare trainees to manage

“Fatigue is a condition characterized by increased discomfort with lessened capacity for work, reduced efficiency of accomplishment, and loss of power or capacity to respond to stimulation” (Salazar, 2007). Fatigue is an tremendous issue that effects human capabilities and limitations in the aviation industry. Last week Tracie Newman introduced the idea of fatigue mitigation. Fatigue driving is a dangerous type of driving with distractions. While things might not seem as a distracter while driving, they may in fact be the very thing that kills you or leaves you paralyzed for the rest of your life; even something as simple as a handheld cell phone. As we entered into a century of cars and driving, many states have made the most optimal decision to make it illegal to drive while using a cell phone. Its a logical and beneficial choice because it not only saves lives and resources, it reduces the amount of fatigue driving while continuously eliminating the possible dangers of driving while distracted. We are the most intelligent and talented animals; doing many things at once is common. It helps any person…
