Trip Planning Assignment
Destination: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
1. Departure Details
Two of my friends and I are planning a road trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We plan to leave on Friday, April 25th, 2014. Since all three of us want to go together and enjoy as much as we can, we first have to plan all the details for the trip carefully.
2. Destination Details
Our destination is going to be South Carolina. This is one of the most crowded cities in the US, so we have to plan our trip ahead of time to avoid any dangerous situations throughout our trip. We hope to reach our destination on Sunday, April 29th, 2014.
3. Total Round Trip Kilometers
The trip is going to cover about 3800km all together. It is roughly going to take 2 or 3 days to get to our destination (we will also be stopping to rest).
4. Preparing your vehicle
Before leaving, we will make sure that our vehicle is in perfect condition. If there is something that needs to be fixed, we will get it fixed before we depart. Also, we will make sure that we have all of the emergency equipments in our car that is necessary.
5. Preparing the Driver
We should make sure that the driver should get enough sleep before the trip, so the driver can concentrate. We will also be changing the driver once in a while, so no one gets tired.
6. Route directions and street names
We plan to take the route on I-40 E because it is very familiar to us, and the faster way to go. The traffic should be fast moving, and shouldn't slow us down too much.
7. Rest Stops
Six-hundred miles is probably about how far we will drive each day, and then we will stop and rest for the night in a hotel. Before we stop, when it starts getting late we will switch off drivers taking turns, therefore no driver gets too tired. The approximate price we plan to spend on a hotel will be $100 each time. Also, the total price on food for all three of us should be around $75. We will also stop to fill up the gas. The total gas price will be approximately $218.63 one way.

When the driver is aware of when and how long they will be behind the wheel, they will have a better judgment of time management. With this, they should know when to go to bed to get an eight-hour rest. “People who sleep even a moderate six to seven hours per night are twice as likely to crash as those who sleep the recommended eight hours a night” (Rodriguez Par. 4). This good night rest is the best way to make sure the body is in its optimum driving condition. Planning ahead also lets the driver know when the best times are to drive. The chances of falling asleep behind the wheel at night are greater than any other time of day. The body is working against its clock during late hours which will increase a driver’s vulnerability of falling asleep (Drowsy Driving, section 4). Because of this, avoid driving between midnight and six in the…

The tourism industry is changing. The internet and customer reviews have changed the whole environment in which tourism is conducted. One of the biggest contributors to this change is TripAdvisor. TripAdvisor (NASDAQ: TRIP) is a website which allows the customer to find the information about the tourist location and see the feedback from the people. TripAdvisor altered the booking habit of the customers as now the customers are not solely dependent upon the official presentation of the hotel staff, but they also have access to the experiences of the other customers that can provide the picture in true light. Probably that is the reason TripAdvisor has turned into a necessary step before booking any hotel or restaurant or planning…
