Four leadership theories have been outlined and analyzed in this paper. It is evident that many theories of leadership exist with overlapping qualities from these leadership theories are integrated by successful leaders in various organizations, as leaders adjust to their various leadership styles. There is no single leadership theory or style that can be upheld as the best management theory. One can conclude that leadership ultimately rests on the amalgamation of various leadership traits from the various leadership theories in existence. Northouse, P. (2004) maintained that successful leaders adopt different leadership approaches, implementing the appropriate combination of different leadership styles depending on the circumstances. Evidently, the leadership approach has a great influenced employee productivity and morale. The leadership theory research has been to use the various aspects of leadership to achieve leadership…
“The ability to lead has been observed and reported on for many centuries. Many ancient writings tell tales of leaders who served in battle, commanded nations, or taught religious ideas. In a general sense, the primary qualities associated with leadership are vision, enthusiasm, trust, courage, passion, coaching, developing others, intensity, love, and even serving as a parent figure. In an organizational context, leadership involves influencing the behaviors of individuals and groups to work toward predetermined goals (Baak, 2012).” With leadership comes my different forms of leadership, know as leadership styles. Leadership style is the manner and approach of providing direction, implementing plans, and motivating people. There are three main types of leadership styles that are well known in business, from an organizational point of view that include authoritarian leadership (autocratic), participative leadership (democratic), and delegative (laissez-fair) leadership. “Many agree that participative or democratic leadership yields the best results, as it provides a median between the extreme authority of the authoritarian leader and the lack of direction in laissez-faire leadership. Nonetheless, each leadership style can prove effective when applied in the appropriate context. The role of an effective leader is to adopt the style that fits best with his team dynamics (Cutajar, 2012).” But many leaders tend to use and abuse these leadership styles to their best advantage, with any regard for others, former CEO of Home Depot Robert Nardelli is a great example. Robert Nardelli was heavily criticized for his leadership style and methods he used during his tenure as CEO of Home Depot. The purpose of the paper below is describe his style of leadership and…

According to Janda (1960), leadership is a term defined as a scientific discipline of power relationships where group members believe that other members of their group has the right to prescribe a particular behavior to others (Janda, 1960, p. 345-346). However, leadership is the consequence of the interaction of interpersonal relationships between members of a group that obey willingly and not forced to do so under pressure (Ivanova, Zivkovic, & Ivanov, 2011, p. 12756). Despite the contrary, most definitions of leadership differ in many respects; most reflect the assumption of a process that intentionally influences the guidance, facilitation and structured relationships of people in groups or organizations. Leadership…

My Taxonomy on Leaderships contrasts and compares four leadership theories. The leadership principles discussed in the Taxonomy include the trait-based, servant leadership, transactional leadership and transformational leadership theories. Trait-based theories are the earliest attempts to study leaders and leadership effectiveness by concentrating on distinctive skills and traits of the individual. Servant Leadership is a servant to others, one by putting the needs of their customers, employees and communities first. Transactional Leadership is based on the setting of clear objectives and goals for either punishments or rewards in order to encourage compliance with those goals. Lastly,…
Kreitner and Kinicki (as cited in Darling & Leffel, 2001, p356) state leadership is a process where on individual guide and assist a group to achieve a common goal. Being a successful leader, he/she should have profound knowledge as well as skills. Additionally, Leadership is distinguished form management and this distinction is crucial. Kotterman (2006) explains that to management is that taking responsibility to accomplish and conduct the tasks as well as target. However, he also states that to lead means to direct and influence by an action as well as opinion. Furthermore, Darling and Leffel (2001) point out that leadership styles can be classified into four types which include Analyzer, Connector, Director and Creator, all of which are various. However, different leaders and styles are required in different situations, which is what Morrison (2000) illustrates that different leadership styles generate different influence and significance on the entrepreneurial spirit.…

A leader always plays an important role in business world. Not only supervise the staff, but must also convince them to corporate objectives, by contributing their work with a commitment. Most leaders use their own styles of leadership. There is no ideal leadership style. First the leader has to realize what his natural style is. In many cases, the leadership style depends on his experience, knowledge and personality, which must be adapted to the specific situation, the expectations, capabilities and behaviour of employees. Selection of leadership style should provide not only the current successful business, but also balanced development of employees by raising their qualifications and mobilizing them for making more and more new and ambitious actions. It is important to create atmosphere of mutual trust, freedom to share common successes, failures and knew how to deal with them. All this can be achieved by communication between employees and leaders. There are many different factors that can influence an individual’s chosen leadership style or behaviour. The main factors that influence to my choice of leadership are positive work environment which makes employees feel good about coming to work, and this provides the motivation to supporting them during the day. The new employees are given a possibility to challenge themselves, successful initiatives when the process of consultation and feedback naturally results in better decision making with creative thinking helps them to solve problems.…
