Compare And Contrast Treadwell And Chris Mccandless
“If you want something in this life, reach out and grab it.” This was a quotation by Chris McCandless, the main character of the book, Into the Wild. Chris McCandless always followed his dreams and desires; similarly to Timothy Treadwell, the man whose journey in Alaska was documented in the movie The Grizzly Man. After reading about Chris McCandlessand watching the documentary of Timothy Treadwell, it was obvious to notice that these two ambitious and passionate men shared many similarities and differences.

Chris McCandless and Timothy Treadwell were both stubborn in their beliefs and deeply fascinated with nature, causing them to isolate themselves from society. First, McCandless and Treadwell were both very opinionated and did not agree with decisions made by authority figures. For example, McCandless was constantly going against the authorities from when he was in High School, formatting lab reports incorrectly to driving his car into the desert where regulations were posted. A time when Treadwell expresses his anger towards the government was when he stated, “The government flying over a grand total of two times in two months.” He was very enraged with the government and park service here because he seems to be the only one protecting the animals. He is infuriated with authority and begins uncontrollably cursing at his video camera. …show more content…
These two men lived a life full of many accomplishments and hardships, that remain in the minds of many today. Both McCandless and Treadwell lived a life of purpose in their minds by satisfying themselves by living out their dreams.
