I’ve been involved with a organization called Klothe-a-Kid since 7th grade. It’s main purpose is to provide supplies to those in need in rural parts of Kentucky. Through it, I’ve been fortunate enough to work organizing and passing out clothes, school supplies, food, and more to my surrounding neighborhoods and counties. Since Klothe-a-Kid is a Christian-based service, I’ve also been fortunate enough to introduce several new people to my faith while meeting them through the monthly events KAK holds. I believe the reason I consider Klothe-a-Kid to be one of my most significant involvements in my community is because of the scope of which I am allowed to work. I am able to schedule new events in concord with the founder of KAK, for places which…

There are many forms of Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. In some cases there are movies made, and in others there is an actual story has been created, most of which that have different authors or creators. I have found two movies, and one story that are about the scary headless horseman, all of which I find very interesting to read and watch. I have found many similarities between the Original story and the movie created by Disney, but it seems that the movie created by Tim Burton just isn't as closely related to the other two versions. Three ways in which I have found differences are in each version, are their unique characterization, plot, and style.…

Little Red Riding Hood was a story from long ago and changed through the centuries. After reading the first story of Little Red Riding Hood I can say that I was not expecting the ending that it had. This would be frightening to a little child who reads this version of the wolf eating the people. Grimm changes the story a little for in the end the wolf does eat the people but they were saved in the end. The wolf was a very bad and misleading animal that led Little Red Cap/Little Red Riding Hood astray from her path. He took advantage of a situation of an innocence little girl and turned it around in his favor.…

There are many versions to the famous fairy tale Cinderella. Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm’s German version of Cinderella, “Aschenputtel,” is a household story of a young girl named Cinderella who eventually marries a prince. This specific version of Cinderella gave birth to the Walt Disney version of Cinderella that most Americans know today. However the stories are very different. The Grimm brothers’ version is much darker and gory then the classic American version. Small differences like this shed a different light on Cinderella and her journey to a “happy” ending.…

According to Tim Elmore, “Life as a child involved signing up for everything, no margins, no solitude, no time for reflection, and little time to just… be a kid.” Parents sign their kids up for a variety of sports and activities, whether the kids want to do them or not. As a result, the child's schedule becomes completely filled, and they do not get the chance to make any decisions for themselves. Kids don’t have time for things that they want to do, including just being a kid. This then leads to young adults being scared of adulthood and unprepared to take on the challenges because they never actually got the privilege to be a kid. Furthermore, Derek Thompson notes that young adults are missing out on huge opportunities, such as starting a family or getting a well paying job, because of the poor economic conditions. Additionally, Thompson records that 49% of 18-34 year olds have accepted a job that they did not necessarily desire, in order to pay their bills. Their jobs are very demanding, require much of their time, and pay very…
