Commitment To A Non-Profit Outside Of School
On average kids from the ages 5-18 devote 5 hours of their time to extracurricular activities on a weekly basis to further themselves in a certain skill. With such opportunities and commitment kids are given the chance to learn key skills outside of school. I must say that extracurriculars one's true commitment to improvement outside of school, this is especially true for me as I am in a great non-profit program called Breakthrough New York where I have learned to prepare outside of school academically, try to make change, and most importantly stand out in the crowd that is my generation.
Firstly, with in my extracurricular life I have learned that making academic preparations and devoting one's time is extremely important and it is a commitment all scholars should attempt to make. I personally say this because in Breakthrough New York I have been able to study courses I will take the following year, helping me to be a top student at my school. With this comes the opportunity to be prepared although I have had to devote countless hours of our time to it because with this program I haved learned preparation is worth the time. …show more content…
I say this plainly because in our Literature class we have been talking about what it means to be an upstander and it has inspired me to thus be that one variable in a massive equation that creates a whole new answer. This showing thus that I have taken the opportunity that is BTNY and from that blossomed, due to the lessons received taking all of that into account. In continuation I have heard so many stories about being an upstander at BTNY and the following quote really resonated with me “ You never know if you're going to help a future leader,doctor, or friend of your.” The thought of this quote showed me that it's so important to make a change be that leader because, although cliche, you never
