Commercial Aviation Management
As long as I can remember, airplanes, airports and flying, has always fascinated me. During my childhood, we lived on the top floor of a high-rise building located directly on the Pearson Airport’s landing and take off flight path. I use to spend countless hours just gazing the sky watching airplanes. When I was old enough to operate a pc, the MS Flight Simulator was my favorite game that helped me learn and understand the various features of a cockpit and how to takeoff and land a plane. I had decided in my early middle school days that I wanted to become a pilot because flying became my passion.
Through out my middle school years, my love for flying kept on growing and with the guidance from my parents, I started selecting courses that would help me build the basis for more advanced aviation related courses in the future. I started taking extra curricular activities such as map reading, studying advances in the field of aviation and making model airplanes. I also started reading books written by veteran pilots sharing their life long experiences, do’s and don’ts and explaining best possible choices to become a pilot.
During my high school years, I had lined up all my courses that were required as pre-requisite by several flight training schools in Toronto, but unfortunately, due to sheer teenage laziness and weaknesses, I started to fall behind in my educations. As time went by, I was always trying to catch up with the pace, but occasionally it was just easy to give up as catching up seemed a daunting task. Personally, I went through hard time as I still had a burning passion to become a pilot, but my bad study habits has caused me to fall behind in my courses and joining any aviation institute seemed impossible, I was beginning to feel that my dream to become a pilot might remain a dream.
I was fortunate that I realized my mistakes before it was too late. With the moral support from my family, I started to put together a recovery plan that would bring me back

I chose this career because I have always been interested in how planes are able to fly and how they operate. I think it’s fascinating that such a large machine can lift itself and stay stabilized enough for flight. It would also be exciting to see how they are made and to help build and design them. I would be required to conduct research on production materials, analyze the structural integrity of a plane’s framework, and develop…

After I managed to get sober for real I slowly started gaining back the trust of my family and loved ones. Many wonderful things started happening for me, best of all being getting my children back. Gaining the trust of my family back didn’t happen overnight, but over time they started to see that I was really a changed person and that I wasn’t going back to my old life. I moved back in with my parents and started taking the necessary steps to custody of my children back. I finally got to attend Christmas with my entire family and it was the best Christmas I’ve ever had. It was so amazing to spend this holiday with my family and not have to worry about when I was going to get my next fix. Living with my parents gave me the stable environment that I needed to get my life back in order. I got back into school and got a job. I also completed a plan that family court assigned to me which included things like counseling, NA meetings, and drug testing. This allowed me to be free from any further court actions or involvement. I cannot describe to anyone the amazing feeling that I got from knowing that I finally had my children and family back in my life. Gaining my children’s trust back was a lengthy and difficult process.. It involved many counseling sessions, long talks, prayers, determination, and hard work, but I did…

For Bangladesh, the readymade garment export industry has been the proverbial goose that lays the golden eggs for over fifteen years now. The sector now dominates the modern economy in export earnings, secondary impact and employment generated. The events in 1998 serve to highlight the vulnerability of this industry to both internal and external shocks on the demand and supply side. Given the dominance of the sector in the overall modern economy of Bangladesh, this vulnerability should be a matter of some concern to the policymakers in Bangladesh. Although in gross terms the sector’s contributions to the country’s export earnings is around 74 percent, in net terms the share would be much less partially because the backward linkages in textile have been slow to develop. The dependence on a single sector, no matter how resilient or sturdy that sector is, is a matter of policy concern. We believe the policymakers in Bangladesh should work to reduce this dependence by moving quickly to develop the other export industries using the lessons learned from the success of apparel exports. Support for the apparel sector should not be reduced. In fact, another way to reduce the vulnerability is to diversify the product and the market mix. It is heartening to observe that the knit products are rapidly gaining share in overall garment exports as these products are sold in quota-free markets and reflect the strength of Bangladeshi producers in the fully competitive global apparel markets…

Alesiewicz also says that the purpose of the National Air and Space Museum is “… to stimulate the mine and create interest.” For example, a young child may find the exhibit called “How Things Fly” very interesting and fun, especially considering that it is a fun interactive part of the museum. This exhibit “…offers imaginative interactive devices that help people of all ages grasp the basic principles of flight, and entertaining talks and demonstrations on scientific principles” (“Smithsonian”). From his or her experience, this child may want to become a pilot in the future, or even a philosopher looking for new ways to re-invent flight. Mr. Alesiewicz says that his experience in the museum inspired him “… to want to be better in …” his “… own career and to not remain stagnant.” The exhibits in the National Air and Space museum reflect many career fields, such as engineering, piloting, computer science, and so…

As many people believe, you can't succeed in aviation unless you have a strong passion for it. I have always loved to fly, I can't think of one time where I have not been excited to board an airliner, even for a 12 hour flight returning from a perfect vacation in Alaska! Everything about flying appeals to my senses; the pressure sensation on my back as the aircraft barrels down the runway and lifts off, the jet engine spooling noises during takeoff, and even the distinctive jet fuel scent that fills the cabin when the turbofans are being started are just a few examples. I also love everything about an aircraft itself; the appearance, and instruments, controls and systems that successfully drive the aircraft increase my interest in airliners. All of these aspects about aviation further strengthen my desire to become a pilot. When watching aviation videos online, the sounds of the flight deck together with the sounds of the engines while the pilot lands the aircraft perfectly all combine together into one strong feeling of awe that takes over my mind. I really love everything about flying and airliners, and want to operate them for my…

My journey started 16 years ago right after I graduated high school. In the beginning, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but I knew I was fascinated with science and medicine. In the first part of my journey I attended Community College of Philadelphia. When I got to college I had no idea which way to go or what steps to even begin to take. So I took a few classes here and there while I contemplated a career goal. After taking an anatomy and physiology course I knew that I wanted to become a physician. When I first began Community College of Philadelphia I was immature and didn’t see the importance of doing my best. My grades weren’t too great but when I realized my goal, I knew I had to buckle down and really show the determination and commitment I was capable of. On the second part of my journey, I was lead to Temple University. I knew that this was the time to stay focused and make sure I did the best I could do and more. Temple was my second chance. While attending Temple I learned many valuable life lessons. Not only did temple help shape me into a mature and well-rounded woman but it also helped me achieve the tools required to have a successful future.…

There are a couple of songs that I can always count on to push me through every workout or tough times in my life, but my favorite song has to be Till I Collapse by Eminem. The beat, lyrics, and the emotional voice of Eminem are all what makes this song my favorite. This song has a meaning to it that I could connect with. According to Aaron Copland, people listen to different types of music and he divided the types into three planes. Reading all three types I found that I belonged in the expressive plane, just by reading this quote "all music has an expressive power, some more and some less, but that all music has a certain meaning behind the notes.…

It feels like just last week I was hugging my family goodbye as I was getting on the plane headed down to Lackland Air Force Base for basic military training. My story however begins way before this plane ride. Since I was a pre-teen computers and technology in general fascinated me. Growing up with a father that could fix a car engine with a 2X4 and a roll of duct tape and a mother who still is to this day a system analyst at Albany medical center, building and working with computer software and hardware was my hobby. Now working in the field I grew up to love in the world’s greatest Air Force feels like a dream come true but I feel I need to further my knowledge through higher education.…

The question can be is. How has the economy of the airline industry performed throughout the many decades it has been? In addition, what did the industry do as it has gone through many events that have challenged its survival? In this type of industry, we can say that it has seen their share of success in profits but has seen its share of overwhelming down trends. You can definitely consider there is this industry depends on the economy around it and solely affected by it too. The airline industry has seen highs when the demand for their services was increased and the decreases when events had a major impact on their survival of the industry. While there are obvious externalities that affect the outcome of this industry, there is more to it. Monetary and fiscal policies affect the industry. Along with everything that has affects this industry, there is a noticeable wage inequality that has intensified.…

On January 20, 2007, I took some girls from my troop to the Danielson Airport for a program put on by two members of the New England Chapter of Ninety-Nines, which is the International Organization of Women Pilots. The afternoon began with an inspirational video featuring stories told by female pilots of all ages about how and why they wanted to fly a plane. Then we listened to a short lecture on the physics of flying, such as how air pressure works to lift a plane 's wings. After we toured the airport, we gathered back in the classroom where journals were passed out to all of the girls. The girls were instructed to write down their dream in their journal. The pilots dared them to follow their dreams. I observed the presenters and the girls…

As time went by and situations changed, so did my plans but not my desires. For NASA I will never be able to be a pilot. Knowing this I found another path to flight, Aerospace Engineering. Like all of your other applicants I have charted the courses that would qualify an individual for this opportunity. Having seen this coming I added another major to my education. I added Electro-mechanical engineering to my field of interest and I believe that sets me apart from the competition. Through the years I have not only studied through the university, but I have put in time for personal research. I looked up NASA and the works that they have done. The ideas and the concerns of NASA are now my own and I would not change that if I could.…
