College Sports Research Paper
College Sports Colleges come in all different shapes and sizes. Some are well known with thousands of students, others are more humble with a few hundred students. But almost every college has one thing in common and that’s sports. Nearly all the colleges across america have sports teams. However, there are varying opinions on the role sports play in a student's college life. Some agree that sports are extremely important because they earn money for the school and attract the attention of students. Others think that people are forgetting the academics of the school letting students who play on sports teams get by with just their athletic ability. But most agree with both sides of the argument that both sports and academics are key parts to a student and the college's success. If a young high school student was looking at colleges they want to attend most would probably look at the school their favorite sports team plays at. This is one of the reasons sports teams are so important. They can attract the attention of future students. Another reason is that sports teams can …show more content…
They believe that college is a place solely for education, not sports. There is some truth to this, since some students can get full scholarships based on their athletics rather than their grades. But this doesn’t mean that sports should be completely removed from colleges. For example, some students have trouble keeping their grades up enough to get into the college they wanted to, so they turned to sports and earned a scholarship to their dream college. Some students don’t have the money to afford their dream college and they don’t have the grades to get a scholarship so sports was their only way. The fans that watch the college sports could be aspiring athletes who want to go to college where their idols went. Removing sports could crush thousands of aspiring athletes
