College Essay On Welding School
During the middle of my sophomore year at Norway High School we took the quick 10 minute drive to Kingsford and toured the Dickinson Iron Intermediate School District. There was a plan set in stone for me to see the welding lab. After meeting and learning about all the different opportunities there are after attending this school, we finally got to meet with Mr. Jezylo and Mr. Paulsen. As soon as I entered the shop I instantly felt at home. The humming of the welding machines, the loud crash of metal falling to the floor after being cut, and the sparks flying as students are welding were amazing. I could've spent forever in there learning about welding and what it takes to become a welder, but sadly we had to leave and go back to our homeschool. I couldn't stop thinking about welding and how bad I wanted to learn about it. Everything we learned that day opened my mind to new experiences.
As the year progressed, I researched and watched videos about welding, researched colleges that have a welding program, and …show more content…
Being a female in this field is hard, but it’s a challenge I’m willing to do. My skills in this field got me the chance to be enrolled at Bay West to do the Early College Program. The state of Michigan made an exception for me, even though I am a senior to enroll in this only because the director knew how passionate I am about this. I found my place in this world and I want to further my experience and help other women come into the “man’s world”. This is something I’m ready to do for the rest of my life. I never wanted an office job or to be a nurse. I wanted to do something different than what others are doing so I took the leap into the welding career and I definitely landed it. My parents are my biggest support system I have because without them I wouldn't be going out and doing what I love to
