College Essay About Moving To College
Home, home for me has been in 4 cities and 3 different states. I was born in Houston, Texas and a few moves later I ended up in Scottsdale, Arizona. These moves have definitely impacted me in many ways. Moving was probably one of the hardest things I’ve had to do so far in my life. Leaving everyone you know and the environment you’re used to to go to a place where you know absolutely no one is really difficult. Though it was difficult, it has made me even more outgoing than I already am and a stronger person. This also made going to college a lot easier. Deciding what college to go to was kind of a difficult decision for me. I originally decided to go Northern Arizona University, but a few weeks before school started I changed my mind and wanted to attend Arizona State University. I changed my mind because I realized that I wanted the big college feel, the name recognition, and overall the better education that ASU has to offer. Now, that I’m here, at ASU, I’m so glad that I made the choice to change university’s because I am really enjoying all my classes and the people …show more content…
My first goal is to improve my writing abilities. This is a goal of mine because I know I’m not the best writer and I get insecure when I hear other people’s papers and compare them to mine. Writing seems to come so easy to my peers and one day I wish I could say the same. Another goal is to get over my fear of public speaking. I’m am able to talk 24/7 when it isn’t in front of a huge audience, but once a teacher tells me to stand up and start speaking I start to stumble over my words and my voice begins to shake. The worst part about this is that everyone I’m speaking to can tell that I’m nervous and it just makes it worse. If I could accomplish these to goals, I would be grateful because I know bettering these two skills could help me tremendously in the future with getting

The three similarities between the story and Amistad are the ways that the slaves were treated, the conditions of the ships, and the reactions of the slaves. I love meeting new people and I enjoy having friends from all over but going to different schools every other year was a harder task. I have moved to quite a few places like Georgia, Hawaii, Fayettville NC, and so on. These were just the most memorable places. Being born here in Morehead City, I had a much different life than when I had to live on base. Well, living on base can be nice, sometimes, but it’s really crowded because the houses are connected usually. So when I came home to where I was born, here, it was nice to have our own space.…

Throughout this novel there are a lot of characters worthy of comparing and contrasting, however I've decided to analyze Matsu, and Stephen relationship. The base of Matsu and Stephen relationship sort of reminds me of a George and Lennie relationship from the “Of Mice and Men Tale”, in which George carries around Lennie like a helpless pet by caring for him, guiding him through life, and bailing him out of the sticky situations he gets himself in.…

Since I have moved to Arizona I have been bombarded by questions like, “Why did you move from California” and “You seriously chose ASU over a California school?!” I chose Arizona for three reasons. The first is that I wanted to get out of the “orange county bubble”. The second was I did not have a certain major in mind when choosing college so I couldn’t search for one with a specialty in that major. ASU though was excellent in many areas so I would have a wide variety of good majors to choose from if I needed. The third was I wanted to become more independent while still being able to have support. For most of my life I was always guided in school and most of my decisions were made for me or heavily persuaded by my parents. I knew that going to Arizona would give me the chance to really find myself and establish the man I wanted to be in life. One reason I didn’t come though surprisingly was to party which is also why I am here at west campus.…

My most prized possession is my mental stability and ethical background that I have acquired from my southern upbringing. Growing up in a rural community in the south and being reared by elderly parents allowed my seeds of character and respect to be nurtured by an entire village of people who saw my potential and wanted to see me succeed and thus pushed and prayed for my wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. As a child, series of unique experiences of being able to develop intimate and loving relationships with almost everyone in my community made me appreciate the influence of everyone on my life. It was not long before I realized that no matter how old or young, rich or poor, or educated a person was, everyone contributed to humanity’s niche…

Hi, I’m Suzzana, I think you know that by now. I’m currently attending Camden County College. I am transferring because as you might know, most community colleges are two year schools. Community College has been great for me. I was never achievement orientated when I was in grade school. I was enrolled in an alternative school since the 8th grade. I was behind in my academics, but I would like to say I compensate in life experience. When I was younger around the age of 9 I was bullied a lot. I was chubby and I increasingly gained weight at that time. My influx of weight was the baggage of my emotions and my families struggles. My parents divorced when I was 10, my mom was escorted out by police. I only had my dad for a year. Then, I had missed…

Moving in to college came with many changes and adjustments. First was my living situation. I have never had to share space with people with a different schedule than mine. At home my family all got up at the same time and went to bed at similar times. In college that is not the case. My suite mates and I run on opposite schedules. Having to be quiet in the morning when they are still sleeping is a major adjustment for me. This has allowed me to practice curtesy in being quiet in the morning.…

It was August 2011, when I was watching television together with my family. We sat together in the living room like we usually do. There was nothing special in the news so I didn’t really pay attention about what was going on, I kept reading my book and talked to my mom. A little while after that I heard the newscaster say about the war what was happening in the Middle East between the countries there (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, etc.) and United States of America. I already knew that they had war with each other since 2001; I also knew that the reason for that war is about terrorism. I didn’t really know about the terrorism things at that time. But when I was watching the television I saw hundreds of people killed by US troops with their bombs. At that time, I just had the picture that it is just one of America’s propaganda to attack the weak country with their strong military. I still remember when I said, “If I could choose what country in the world I travel to, I will not come to the United Stated of America, daddy!” My daddy just laughed and said, “You’ll never know young lady, so let’s see”.…
