College Connection Personal Statement
I would like to attend the College Connection Program because it is a great opportunity to learn and complete my senior year of high school. {Sentence connecting Readiness and Reason}
Unfortunately, the high school I am currently attending is closing at the end of this year, and it will not be available for me to finish my high school education. This fact has forced me to look to my other options to prepare for my higher education. In searching for the school to attend my senior year, I was informed about this wonderful opportunity to get college credits while still in high school. Since then, I have been very interested in learning at a college level and being pushed to excellence. The academics provided through College Connection would be beneficial to my life and will be a journey I

I believe I am ready to learn through this program. My habits in regards of studying are well enough established to help me through any difficulty I may face. I work hard to achieve the education and grades I receive. Currently I have a 4.0 GPA and intend to keep it. I enjoy learning and broadening my skills in life. Group projects that help me learn how to work and learn with others are enjoyable. However, setting my own pace and learning by myself is good as well. Before high school, I attended a charter school that taught me how to learn from a book, without the help of a teacher. I believe I learn equally from my peers, as I do my teachers. I enjoy learning and feel satisfied when I finish something. I am very hard-working. Some people say I am a “workaholic” because I will not relax until all the things, that have yet to be done, is finished. I am a go-getter and an achiever, by setting goals for myself and working hard to make them a reality. I hope that College Connection will be the way in which I achieve my dreams.I believe I am ready to take on the challenges that College Connection will give

    The Early College Initiative at CCNY was started in 2005 to develop and support a local 6-12 school called City College Academy of the Arts (CCAA) located in the Washington Heights area. We focus on helping our students not only to earn up to 60 college credits while in high school, but to also develop those skill sets that are going to make them successful college students. We ensure that our students understand that a college degree is accessible, affordable, and attainable. We do this by starting the college awareness process in our 6-8 grades and build on that momentum in grades 9-12. Students are dual enrolled and start taking their first college course in the 9th grade and start to come the CCNY’s campus in…

    We would like to take a few minutes of your time to introduce you to this exceptional program. According to Pathways director Kelly Ramirez, Pathways to College was the vision of past WLC president Tim Kriewall and the program accepted its first students in 2007. Although located on the WLC campus, Pathways to College is a non-profit organization independent from WLC. With the mission “to create a belief that college is an option for everyone (Pathways pamphlet),” the program assists lower-income college prospects who are “first-generation” students (neither of their parents have graduated from college) and have the potential to succeed in college. In this program, students develop academically, socially, and spiritually for college. The program also assists them in finding the financial resources to attend college. The ultimate goal is to increase “the number of lower income and minority students pursuing and completing a post high school education.” (Pathways…

    I started taking classes part-time at OSU my junior year of high school, and full-time my senior year. By the time I graduated high school, I took 40 credit hours of classes at OSU and had a 3.81 OSU GPA. Despite the tough coursework I found time to partake in numerous extracurricular activities. When I officially joined OSU as a freshman, I joined the small biomedical science major and biological sciences group. In these groups, I have not only helped my peers with their academics, but I have given them guidance on how to simultaneously manage both their academics and fitness pursuits.…

    Today I received a message in my student email about my academic progress. I was denied Financial Aid due to my poor academic performance my 2015-2016 semester at Mesa Community College. The reason for not meeting academic requirements the previous semester was because of my lack of organization with working, sports, and studying. I take full responsibility in not putting my academics before sports and work leading me to write this letter. I truly believed I could juggle working 20 hours a week as a swim instructor and also be a student-athlete for Mesa Community College while maintaining strong grades. I soon found myself struggling in classes and doing poorly on exams because I was not using my time correctly and pushing my school work to the side. In high school I worked as a swim instructor and ran cross country as I am now, I put little effort into studying and did what I had to do to get by. Those poor habits followed me into college and are now backfiring with proof through my GPA.…

    I am a born leader and I would love to be able to bring my passion for leading and hard-work to Indiana University. Over the years I have moved a lot and been to four different schools throughout middle school and high school. At first it was a struggle to keep my grades up while trying to make friends and play sports, but I have since found that the key is all things in moderation. I play tennis and am a cheerleader for my high school and plan on continuing these sports while at IU. I love the spirit that revolves around the school sports and other events at Indiana University. I would be very involved with keeping the Indiana Hoosier traditions alive. I also plan to be involved with the Greek life at Indiana University. If I am given the opportunity to attend Indiana University, I would want to study business.…

    I believe that everyone should have the ability to go to college, no matter their socio-economic standing. My father was laid off form a six-figure job and has been unable to be rehired anywhere close to the salary he was paid previously. I now see what it is like to live below the poverty line and recognize the privilege of those with financial freedom. I adhere to a very liberal view of the world. Living for 16 years in the left-leaning state of Washington, has caused me to possess some of the most liberal and progressive viewpoints one can hold. I respect all forms of spirituality, as long as it does not disrupt other’s spiritual quests or lack thereof. I am atheist, but believe in human spirituality and dedicate a lot of my time to learning…

    The Early College was the push I needed to better myself as a student and as a person. In high school, I received stellar grades and test scores without trying. I never needed to study, and I did the bare minimum for a majority of my assignments. Occasionally, I would find an assignment that I loved and go way beyond the requirement. I was a teacher favorite, but I was disliked by other students because I was a bit of a show off with my intelligence. I never needed time management skills, so I never developed them. While I was received good grades, I did not improve any of my skills or abilities. This program helped me find my faults and make changes that have made a world of difference.…

    Coming from a family who values education and all a great education stands for; I am fully capable of appreciating an experience such as the Early College Program. I have attended a couple different schools in my short time as a student and no other has caught my attention like Middle College High School. Its values and standards raise high above the rest. Its mission statement stands out because it outlines the importance of “immersing students in an academically challenging learning environment.” As a member of Future Builders, a segment of Bridges, USA, I am able to fully appreciate diversity and all that a diverse community and learning environment can offer. I am also aware of the importance of service to others– an important part of life that my family has instilled in me since birth.…

Finding out who you are is about experiencing what college has to offer. My best self can be accomplished easily if I keep my mind on the right track. I will go to class and work my hardest to make the best grades that I can. To me listening and taking in what the professor has to say is highly rewarding. Most people don’t show up because they think it is pointless. I feel a bit of confidence in myself knowing I obtain the will to dedicate myself to my studies.
