College Admissions Essay: What Makes Me Happy
Overtime I have set many goals and dreams that have not come true. I set these goals and dreams so I could find happiness. Dreams of going to a big university, having a huge house, playing professional sports, but then reality hit him. I did not need these things to make me happy. What I needed to make me happy is quality relationships with those I am close with, a job I could love doing, and most importantly giving back to others.

When I found myself becoming depressed in 8th and 9th grade from things that were going on in my life, I knew I needed a change. I needed to find something that would make me happy and I did. The first thing that made me happy was solidifiying relationships with those that took part in my life. I was very distant from all of my friends and even family. Over the past four years I have become extremely close with my friends and family simply based on the fact

All my teachers kept telling me that it was okay to be interested in so many things. But at the beginning of my junior year I finally narrowed it down to a career pathway, business. I knew that I could give back to my community and also do good for a business so that I could be succesful while giving my all to the company that hires me. At the beginning of senior year, I received four mentors. They talked with me about careers helping me making my decision. After presenting my portfolio to them, we all decided what I needed to do. I will be pursuing a degree in operations and supply chain management from Ferris State University. They offer this degree which is basically a two for one. Most colleges offer operations management or supply chain management. This career is going to allow me to pursue happiness and be able to use the skills I have acquired in an effective manner. Working in a career field that will benefit me and allow me to do something I love is going to make my life easier and myself

I became a counselor in training for one summer and I found out what I wanted, not to be a counselor. I was perfect for the job, went to camp consecutively each summer, was energetic, was a great team player, worked well with children. But I felt I was needed somewhere else. Last summer I was offered a short term job, sorting files onto a computer. I was very professional, well organized, attentive to detail, but when I had completed my assignment I was done working there. I know now I do not want to work in an office. With each job or adventure I become more certain with my abilities and aware of what I want to do. UWRF was my first college acceptance letter I had received in December and since then that is the university I see myself accomplishing the most in. Someone once told me to choose a major based on my avocations and accomplishments. I have taken diverse, challenging classes through high school, that is my reasoning for going in as undecided. When I come to UWRF this fall, I will be a sheet of paper, with writing on the back that sticks out to the blank side. The written side are decisions that brought me here, and the blank side is for the memories that will be created at…

I was very excited when I started taking classes that had to do with my major because it meant that I was one step closer to my goal. I’m not exactly sure if I want to get my Bachelor’s and then work for a while before I go back to school for my Master’s, or strive to complete all my schooling at one time. I do think that completing all of my education at once will save money and I also won’t have the headache of trying to go to school and trying to keep up with work, also. Hopefully, after careful consideration, I will make the right decisions to go forward in my career.…

The past few years, something new has been going on in my life, something I am not very familiar with. This something is change. I always dreaded change, even the word change itself. I was hanging out with the same group of friends since the beginning of high school, shared my best memories with and we were as close as can be. They truly were my second family. As I began my first semester in college, I became a very diligent and hard working person. Consistently working diligently in my studies and working to my upmost potential in my job. Unfortunately, some of my friends were not the same way and even though this may have upset me, I believe that I should always surround myself with people who have similar goals to my own. Although it was just this one thing, it had…

If I did transfer into that class it would help me a lot. At the end of my senior year, I will be doing a senior project which is job shadowing. You shadow them for a week or so, In the end you get to see if that career is right for you. Doing that will help me alot too on if the job/ career is right for…

Almost a freshman in college, I only had vague ideas of what I wanted to do until I met people and learned more about myself. I knew I had some flexibility in my decisions; I could make mistakes as I’m only human. Not everyone knows what they want to do right away. That’s perfectly acceptable, figuring out life’s steps one at a time while enjoying the process is what matters. As I pursued pre-business, I learned more about myself and the two concentrations that appealed to me, which lead to my desire to tie in my interests to my career…

I believe in opportunity. The definition of opportunity is something that you want to do, have the chance to do, or the possibility·of achieving something. When I was younger, I lived in a heavily populated town: Laredo, Texas. At the time, I was an eighth grader trying to make my mom proud by getting good grades in my classes. Seeing my mom happy was the greatest feeling in the world. My father, on the other hand, started to disappear on us. I found out that my dad had a drug problem, and my mom was filing for a divorce. I did not want my mom getting a divorce, but I knew she would be happier. My parents splitting up killed me, but it was best for my mother and me. Thinking about the divorce now, it was probably the best thing that has ever happened to me, because it offered me one thing: opportunity.…

I was raised with the beliefs that there is an importance of having security in all aspects of life, whether that is financial, physical, or emotional. My parents taught me that “dreams are the touchstones of our character” and that it is important to dream big while remaining clear on goals and realistic with decisions. On the path to deciding my future, their advice remains with me and assists in establishing myself in the goals that I have set.…
