College Admissions Essay: Pursuing My Lifetime Goals
Considering your lifetime goals, discuss how your current and future academic and extra-curricular activities might help you achieve your goals.
I have always had a passion for competition, overcoming difficult situations, and accepting challenges. This is probably why my lifetime goal ever since my junior year in high school has been to become marketing manager, so I can be involved in an environment where my passion can be used. In pursuing this objective, I have taken part in activities and courses that will help me on the path to success. I have also planned for the future, so that my target is not shot down once I leave high school.
Football has helped me prepare for my goal and has taught lessons that can benefit me in the future. This sport has taught me that in order to be victorious, teamwork is required. My junior year my team went 1-9, because we were playing like a bunch of individuals rather than a unit. That season made the team realize that in order to be a playoff team, we must all be on the same page, trust each other, be trustworthy, and never settle for anything less but success. With this mindset, my team has been able to come together as a unit, and we as of now, we have become a playoff team. Football

Communication application is a course that teaches you how to speak in public, and how to become a better listener. This course can help me in a future career where your voice and ideas must be heard, as well as hearing out the ideas of others. For the financial side of my goal, accounting has helped me with that. Taking an accounting course has helped with the understanding of how revenue and expenses come into action, which is beneficial due to the fact that one of the duties of a marketing manager is to help price products and services so that the organization achieves their maximum

There are over seven billion people on this Earth, so what is it that makes me so different? I wear Nike, I drive a car, I play video games, I have chores, and could be considered a pretty normal person. I love, I laugh, I get angry, and I have emotions just like every other human being. The one thing I heavily identify with is football. For as long as I can remember I’ve played ball, and made some great friends along the way. The picture in the top left is a great representation of this. Football has taught me lessons of leadership, perseverance, toughness, how to deal with the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows. (Bottom left: aftermath of beating Staley) Above all else, the best thing it has taught me was loyalty. Not only loyalty to a cause, but loyalty to my brothers, and ultimately my family. Football has created a foundation for my character, and without it I am certain I would not be the same person I am today.…

After Graduate School, I hope to have my PhD in psychology or my doctorate in psychiatry. I would like to start out working in jails, talking to criminals and analyzing their brains versus the brain of an average adult to study how the brain reacts with criminal activity and why they do and feel what they do. I have heard that a person can not do that type of work for very long because it is emotionally tasking so after that, I would like to open my own counseling practice up. I would do either marriage and family therapy or focus on teenage depression. Eventually, I would like to retire into school psychology or become a psychology teacher. Also, if I ever have enough money, I will buy a house devoted to taking in stray animals…

My life started out like the beginning of a perfect childhood. Both of my parents had steady, well-paying government jobs, we had moved into a new home and even bought a puppy. All was harmonious, until my parents decided we would have a better life in Canada. Leaving behind everything and everyone we knew was probably one of the hardest things my parents ever did for my brother and me. Struggling to fit in and assimilate was least of our problems, trying to make a decent income became a priority. My parents, who were well educated and accomplished, were compelled to settle for multiple meager jobs like a cashier at a fast food restaurant or a security guard at an apartment building. They held as many jobs as they could, working…

Football is something that defines me in many ways. Football taught me many things but one of the biggest was becoming a young man. The sport itself didn't teach to be a man but the coach that felt like father figures in the four year in highschool that gave me life lectures. My coaches taught me simple things like how to shake hands like a man to learning to deal with situation that are hard to deal with alone. My coaches have helped me become the young man I am with manner, attention to details, and sense of urgency. Without football and the discipline I've been through, I would have been a MORE of a person who quits when it gets hard. Football is what taught to keep trying even when it's hard and to try my best because at some point you…

One of the most impactful experiences that have made me who I am today is taking part in the game of Football. The game of football has allowed my life to become more enjoyable and exciting for three reasons. One reason football has been so impactful on my life is due to all the great relationships I have gotten out of it. Whether engaging in two a days in 85 degree heat or coming off a painful loss; the friends I have made from football have helped all of us to stick together and support one another. Secondly, football has been so impactful on my life due to the lessons the sport teaches someone about life. Every season, football coaches reiterate how cheating oneself during workouts or not giving one hundred and ten percent only…

Years ago, my neighbor had this bumper sticker, “You were created for something awesome. Find your purpose.” I would see this bumper sticker every day, and hope that, indeed, someday, I would find my purpose. I never imagined that I was meant for more than being a mom and wife. Content with my role, I still kept hoping my awesome purpose would make itself known. Nearly 20 years after dropping out of college, I have found my purpose – I’m helping to heal my family and friends.…

“Your father and I have decided you will stay locally, it will be a lot easier for us.”, it was these words that trembled and traumatized my thoughts. In a flashback, I realized I was the same parent-centered child, that was raised to obey and not question the parents’ authority. I remember my parents asking “What do you want to be when you grow up?” In response, ” I had no clue.” They constantly encouraged me to go to college throughout my high school career. If for some reason I had to stay for my AP class, they would motivate me. High school was the time in my life, where I had to apply to higher education institutions, and when my torment began.…

As I contemplated writing this essay, my thoughts ran adrift with snapshots of profound moments of my life. I can never forget experiences that have resonated with me: like assisting my elderly neighbor whose children would never visit, packing an extra lunch every day for the kid who always sat in the back of the cafeteria without anything to eat, or lending a hand in the wake of a tragic flood that destroyed my neighborhood. These moments are not just sentimental to me; they taught me empathy, and are the chief reasons behind my enthusiasm for higher education, and why I'm driven to serve public interests.…

I was raised with the beliefs that there is an importance of having security in all aspects of life, whether that is financial, physical, or emotional. These were, and still are, the ultimate objectives I have for myself and every action I take and have taken has been formed around this sentiment. My parents taught me that “dreams are the touchstones of our character” and that it is important to dream big while remaining clear on goals and realistic with decisions. On the path to deciding my future, their advice remains with me and assists in establishing myself in the goals that I have set.…
