College Admissions Essay: Skills Refection
Skills Refection Essay Looking back on my work experiences, I have learned many things. I have most of my experiences working with the public. I started working in high school, so I learned early on how to juggle between the responsibility to keep up with school work and work reasonability. It’s been tough, especially at this point in my life. Through the three main areas that I have worked, I obtained many skills, abilities, and knowledge that will help me through my next, and hopefully last career. I started out in working in the restaurant business. In this area, I gained the skills and ability to work and deal with the public. I obtained the knowledge on how to multi-task and read people pretty good. I was promoted to manager at a young age which was scary and awesome at the same time. I ha to learn new skills in scheduling and maintaining inventory and ordering. These were both difficult at first. It took …show more content…
I really enjoyed this one due to meeting the local people of this area. Where I live now is a small community of people that for the most part, their families have been here for generations. It’s surprising how many people own animals, from cat and dogs to cattle and horses. My knowledge of reading people have really helped me here. Depending on the situation that I was dealing, I knew how to talk to them. People are more attached to their animals than a T.V system or a plate of chicken fingers. Working at the clinic I’ve learned about networking a good bit. I now know where I can get local honey, who is the plumber to call, or who can help guide me through working in the school system. This job was great for being new in the community. People now know who I am and walking into the local Wal-Mart takes forever because everyone stops to talk to me to see how things are going. The only downside at working at the vet clinic is that people stop you to diagnose their animals without going to the

I Support positive self concepts and social skill all day at arrival time, children are allowed to play table toys with friend, thus being Thus being able through gestures and speech, to have social interactions. Another activity that encourages social interaction is music time. Sometimes children hold a colorful parachute handle while waving it up and down. This is a good way to learn to cooperate with peers and share materials. Another social activity is out door at the park. The children learn how to take turns eon swings and slides, and they can use their imagination to play fun games together which helps them practice decision making (such as who will be the mommy, who will be tagged etc). They can observe each other at play and imitate each other or movements in order to learn a new skill, such as sliding down the pole.…

One of my functional area goals are self when the teachers say good morning to the children when they walk in to the classroom. We also encourage the other children to say good morning to the other children when they walk in the classroom. This makes the children feel special and welcome. We ensure that I am always available when the children are separate from their parents , and when they fall and get hurt. That we provide opportunities for the children to always feel successful and feel proud of themselves. Support social and emotional development to provide a positive guidance and a positive relationship through out the daily interactions with the other children. The children need to feel this kind of care at the school and the children learn the trust and the security. At circle time chose one child to be the helper for morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack to be helping the teacher and being the line leader this helps the children feel sense of pride and independence.…

The chart on page 354-355 lists sixty-five transferrable skills. Transferrable skills are skills developed through experiences inside and outside of the classroom. These are abilities that help people thrive in any job, no matter what work-content skills they have. This past year I was hired to work at the veterinarian clinic in Bullard. Within one month I got to help de-claw a cat and watch many surgeries. I learned how to medicate animals without getting bit, give hydrotherapy, and many other things. My title was kennel attendant and I still tried to help and learn up front, in surgery, when I finished the kennel. I always watched for depressed animals especially the ones that went through surgery, because sometimes without the tender care they needed they would not eat and lose weight.…

My most prized possession is my mental stability and ethical background that I have acquired from my southern upbringing. Growing up in a rural community in the south and being reared by elderly parents allowed my seeds of character and respect to be nurtured by an entire village of people who saw my potential and wanted to see me succeed and thus pushed and prayed for my wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. As a child, series of unique experiences of being able to develop intimate and loving relationships with almost everyone in my community made me appreciate the influence of everyone on my life. It was not long before I realized that no matter how old or young, rich or poor, or educated a person was, everyone contributed to humanity’s niche…

I think that it’s possible for you to like work as long as you do it on time. The work most teachers give out isn’t that bad and doesn’t take that long. If you get behind, you’re most likely to create an even deeper hole for yourself. That’s why you should always turn in your work on time, so you don’t have to deal with later and not get on the teacher’s nerves!…

I saw many interesting things during my job shadow and made many observations. I saw Dr. Lewis put a cast on a dog’s broken leg. I learned that animals tend to get heart worms and fleas more in the winter, and I didn’t learn that through my research but during my job shadow. During my shadow I helped Dr.Lewis give animal’s shots to prepare them for surgery. I also got to help with a pregnant Labrador retriever and I got to see an ultrasound of her puppies. I took many observations and I saw how kind and friendly all the employees were with the animals. I also saw that working around powerful animals such a horse can be dangerous. Overall, I had a entertaining and enjoyable job shadow.…

I have worked in several different types of establishments since high school. I have worked in a restaurant, Krispy Kreme, LA Fitness, a daycare, and a few retail jobs. Nothing is as stressful as retail. I worked on the assembly line at Krispy Kreme packaging and watching the donuts come out; sometimes I had to do everything on my own until someone else comes in to help. I looked like Lucy from the “I Love Lucy show” when she worked in the chocolate factory, she wasn’t able to keep up with the conveyer belt so she started stuffing chocolates in her clothes to hide them from her supervisor so she wouldn’t get into trouble. It was a pretty funny sight when I first started working at Krispy Kreme, most of the donuts fell into the trash can but I didn’t get into trouble.…
