College Admissions Essay: A Passion For Helping People
I have always had a passion for helping people. When I was little I would try and help anyone around me, even when they didn’t necessarily need help. I have always felt joy in helping my mom cook or helping my dad in the barn. That’s why, I believe, I picked up showing. I felt that I was taking care of my animals and helping them grow and intern my animals helped me grow and develop important qualities. Showing, my second passion, taught me how to be dedicated to something and how to never give up. I believe that by growing in these qualities through showing it has helped me across the board with my other subjects and accomplishments. I believe my greatest personal accomplishment is overcoming my dyslexia. At a young age I was diagnosed with dyslexia and I struggled with everything I did

Dyslexia taught me how to become a hard worker and to bog down and get work done. This hard work will show in my grades and my other accomplishments. I received a Spanish award my sophomore year, not necessarily because I was great at Spanish, but because I never gave up on learning it. I plan on carrying out my hard work at Tarleton State University next fall, were I will be majoring in education and minoring in psychology. I won’t work my first semester so I can get use to everything that will be going on and also because I have saved up enough money from working to support myself the first semester. I plan on working at a daycare or be a student teacher my second semester and for the rest of the three years. I will graduate in four years with my elementary education degree and teach regular classes while I finish out my psychology degree. I then would like to get my special education certificate and help teach special education children. Then, when I get into my older years I would love to become either a school counselor or a
