Let’s meet Alex. Alex is eight years old and is attending third grade. Alex climbs everywhere in his house. Consequently, mom has to constantly take him to the emergency room for a broken finger, arm, leg, or toe. Alex’s big sister complains that Alex bothers her all the time. At school, Alex’s teacher complains about him being disruptive to the class. Alex cannot sit still for five minutes without disturbing another child. Alex climbed up the classroom furniture’s. Alex’s reading and math level were below his grade level. The school suggested Alex’s mom to put him on medicine so he can focus more at school. Mom did not like the idea. One day, after Alex tries to climb the roof of his house, his mom then decided to talk to Alex doctor about …show more content…
The development of these skills can contribute to smoother family life and improved school performance. These skills are also the building blocks for future success (p.1).
One of Alex’s goals is to improve his academic performance. Physical exercise before sitting down to complete homework will help Alex to focus on the homework assignment. Braking assignment into small sections and take a break after each section is complete. Provide extended time for assignment. Another accommodation may be a diet change. Provide Alex food that is low in sugar. Medication might be necessary, however it is not always easy to find right medication that works with a person’s body.
The next goal is for Alex to remember to bring home his homework and homework materials. DuPaul, & Weyandt, (2006) explain “Proactive treatment strategies that have been used successfully for students with AD/HD include choice-making, peer tutoring, and computer-assisted instruction” (p.7). Alex can be assign to peer that would assist him to collect all materials needed and homework and to carry them home. The can program the classroom computer to read a reminder of the items that Alex has to take home for his homework.

    After reading these three articles between how coaches and players do not get along with them attacking each other and when a player does something terrible and the coach defends them. We all have been in a situation where we do not want to be talked to by a family member or friend just because he had a bad day, but when you bring that attitude to a sporting event or practice sometimes the player or coach my lose their composure. Which happened in the three articles that I read, dealing with Latrell Sprewell choked his coach PJ Carlesimo during practice, coach Bobby Knight choked one of his own players Neil Reed, and when Rick Carlisle defended Ron Artest and other players he coached after the brawl in Detroit. In reading those articles I feel that they told me that there is either a bad, competitive, or good relationship between a player and coach. The one with Sprewell and Carlesimo, Sprewell who showed up to practice late that day choked his coach Carlesimo because Carlesimo wanted to know where he has been for being late. Although in the article it states that racial comments were said to Sprewell, but later found out that there were no such thing. So Sprewell was fired by the Golden State Warriors, the team he played for at the time, and was suspended by the NBA for the remainder of the season. In the article about Bobby Knight choking his player Neil Reed, it was halftime during a game when Bobby Knight was still coaching the Indiana University 's men 's basketball team and Knight was so upset with his players that the one player Neil Reed said something to Knight and Knight went after him and started choking him. After the news broke out about that incident the Indiana University 's President fined Bobby Knight $30,000 and suspended him three games.     Let’s start with addressing what Attention Deficit Disorder/Hyperactivity is, this is a behavioral disorder that affects millions of children in school. It is more likely to be diagnosed in boys rather than girls, although girls are also affected by it. Children with ADHD have multiple symptoms that can be diagnosed by your doctor. Kids that are affected by this disorder are often hyper, have trouble focusing on tasks, always seem on the go, excessive talking, problems with interrupting or intruding, difficulty playing quietly, careless errors in schoolwork or other activities, apparent listening problems, tendency to lose things like toys, notebooks or homework, and excessive running or climbing (W.
