Dear Mr. De Longhi:
I would like to start off by thanking you for considering me as a candidate for your surgical residency program. I believe that my medical experience, communication skills and intense desire as well as my passion, uniquely qualify me for a position in residency program at De Longhi Hospital. I would now like to bring my excellent skills and prestige experience to your residency program that will benefit my future, and the future De Longhi surgical residency program.
I am a very positive, open minded person and I always look forward to working with other people. I always accept new challenges and I have proven to work very well under pressure. I would also say that I am independent, a fast learner and a hard worker, which I feel are all important qualities in an aspiring surgeon. My volunteer experience in third world countries with Me to We, and at Royal Victoria Hospital, have really opened my eyes and proven to me that the care of others is very important, and I find it necessary to put others before you, especially when it comes to the health care. Being accepted into this residency program would allow me to put my skills to good use, and to acquire more helpful skills that will better my future in the medical field.
My training, education and experience in medicine have provided me with a strong background in the medical field. I have completed my four years of medical school at De Longhi School of Medicine, and with the completion of my two years of surgical internship at Massachusetts General Hospital, I feel that I am extremely qualified to partake in your five year surgical residency program.
I hope to continue my desire and training to become a fully qualified Thoracic Surgeon, especially in a setting as professional and advanced as De Longhi Hospital. I

I feel that with my knowledge and understanding of this course, I would be an excellent candidate for the position of Medical Coder at North Bay Medical Hospital. A year ago, my mother was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. She passed away the following year. As I went through her medical bills, I found numerous billing errors. I was understandably upset during this time. I contacted her doctor’s office and spoke with Betty. She was the most understanding and reliable person I had ever dealt with. After she resolved all of my issues, I thought “that’s the kind of work I want to do. I enrolled in Penn Foster and excelled in my Medical Billing and Coding course. I also feel that my mother would be very proud of me.…

I have chosen my “co-op log sheet” to be in my portfolio as evidence because it shows people how long I stay at my placement, the tasks I do during the week, and how it demonstrates that I am capable of attending the days for co-op. It also shows that I am capable of staying at least five hours or more using my personal management skill to balance my school work and co-op work. I take this opportunity to finish my work or help the teachers when needed. I also work on holidays for extra hours so that I won’t be behind. I would also like to highlight the efforts of our EES Mr. Dave Dormann. This last week Mr. Dormann first went to Defense Health Headquarters (DHHQ/OTSG), where he discussed the rumors of the Air Force and Navy supporting 5 year HPSP. My goals for residency are simple – to continuously learn in order to educate and heal. Although I have been involved in the community in various ways for many years, I am truly excited to start giving back to society from a different perspective – that of a physician, of a person’s first stop in their most vulnerable of times. Family Medicine is a broad field that will challenge me in many ways, but I am ready to enhance my knowledge in a program that fosters learning through a supportive, team approach where patients and their futures are the greatest concerns.…

I want to be a medical biller and coder at Riverside Hospital because I look forward to making a positive impression with the people whom I will work with. I realized that I wanted to work in the Medical Billing and Coding field due my own personal experience with my son. Since no one in my family works in the medical field, I became Intrigued in how insurance companies and the medical billing process works. The life of a cardiothoracic surgeon is very appealing tome. I want to become a cardio surgeon because its challenging, interesting, and fulfilling work, that includes, emerging therapies, new technology in medicine, team approaches, problem solving, and above all, saving lives. I have always wanted to be a doctor; although, I didn’t chose cardio as a specialty until my sophomore year of high school when I relocated to Pennsylvania. My inspiration came from the strength and the courage of the medical staff that saved the life of my mother and I, while she was in the ICU in Carson City, NV. She was hospitalized for three months while pregnant, also under constant paralyzation in her delicate state. I feel that the dedication of the doctors helped insure our survival, and I believe that I was saved for a purpose. I would like to think that may be to show people the same courage and dedication that I was shown. I would like the opportunity to give someone a second chance like I was given.…

    Surgery

"Surgery". This is the seven letter word that fascinates me and grasps my attention with no effort. As I sat in the hospital room with my sick young cousin, this was the only word I heard come out of the neurologist's mouth. My interest in becoming a surgeon began at the young age of seven years old. I was, and still am, amazed at how profound such an act can be. As a seven year old, I was always the clean and well organized girl who was always inside cutting open her stuffed animals and sewing them back together. Growing up with a Middle-Eastern background, I was always lectured about being a proper wife. My family never cared about my education, instead they felt they needed to prepare me to act my role as a domestic housewife. This is the reason I have chosen to pursue a life that strays away from the path of domesticity. My academic goals are simple, I want to be the top of my graduating class at UCR. I dream of attending a prestigious medical school that will prove to the culture I come from that women are just as capable as men. Attending a prestigious medical school will allow me to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a life-saving surgeon. If I do get accepted to a well renown medical school, it will make my family proud and will serve as living proof that education is in fact the best way to achieve lifelong success. Both of my parents lost the opportunity of a true education and with this loss, they lack hope. I have the drive to save lives and to help those in need. Growing up I watched numerous family members suffer in hospitals. Rather than focusing on their suffering, I always focused on the operations they underwent. I watched them get healed or whither away. Of all the experiences I've learned from, my cousins brain surgery was the most fascinating to me. She had a brain tumor pressing on her olfactory bulb. As soon as I heard she was going to have surgery I went home and with anxious excitement I searched for videos that documented such surgeries.…

I feel that surgery is one of the best fields that combines those two topics. Additionally, surgery to me seems like a large challenge, and I personally really enjoy challenges. You are constantly overcoming difficulties in order to help somebody else, which I find to be really fulfilling. Lastly, when you are a surgeon you really never stop learning, which is quality of the field that I really like. In most fields you don’t get to improve your education once you are done with college, but in surgery that is not the case.…
