Child Labor: An Exploitative Practice
Child labor refers to the employment of children at a regular and sustained labor. It is commonly defined as work done by children done under the age of eighteen it is a contributing factor that leads to the interference with his or her education, or to be harmful to their health, physical, mental and moral, spiritual or social development. This practice is considered to be exploitative by many international organizations and is illegal in many countries for example Canada.
My academic work is sociology because it deals with the study of society and culture and how it affects its surrounding individuals. This has assisted me in choosing this topic because of the various theories/theorist who speak broadly about many societal issues and problems. Allowing me to understand more about the topic and has grown my interest and intelligence.
My personal interest in child labor is based upon a program in which I saw on national geographic which spoke about the increasing number of children who have been involved in child labor for either general work or for sexual exploitation a named country in this program was china, this program peeked my interest and I saw it as informative which made me interested in researching this topic as it also allowed me to increase my knowledge upon this topic.
While doing my research I have decided on my career choice by becoming an agent of the (UN) United Nations as a conservationist, this aims to educate person on their responsibilities and how to take evasive actions in preventing and eliminating the worst forms of child labor.
